After often thinking we need a Van Halen thread, I have decided to take it upon myself and create one. I'm not necessarily a huge Van Halen fan, I just find that it Van Halen tends to come up quite a bit and we need a place to talk about it.

Also you don't go small with Van Halen. You go big, with asterisks. So . . . you're welcome.

I will kick it off with this: Happy 35th Birthday 1984 !

"I'll Wait" is the best track on 1984, though my 14 year old self preferred "Hot for Teacher" based strictly on the video (an all time MTV classic - like top 3).

Van Hagar is an abomination that should be ignored, shunned, and generally written out of history. It's like Highlander 2 - a sequel so bad it almost retroactively ruins the first. Like I have to reevaluate everything about Eddie, Michael and Alex knowing that they allowed themselves to knowingly do that. It's hard. Let's move on.

I would rank the albums as follows:

6) 1984 (1984)
5) Fair Warning (1981)
4) Women and Children First (1980)
3) Diver Down (1982)
2) Van Halen (1978)
1) Van Halen II (1979)
