Art rock, prog rock, psychedelic rock......whatever the term, it's been with us since the late 1960s and has developed subgenres of its own. From such forerunners as King Crimson, Yes, ELP, Genesis an Pink Floyd to later standard bearers such as Rush, Marillion, Queensryche, Dream Theater, Tool and Fates Warning, progressive rock and metal has become a self-sustaining force regardless of the current music trends.

What are your favorite progressive bands and why?

I'm out the loop. A couple years back I heard there was some mega-festival in Virginia somewhere and they had gotten Happy the Man to get back together to do a gig. :bigbow: I really don't know anything after the early 80's except maybe Marillion.

The legendary pink dots, the red krayola might classify in this category.

Gordian Knot. Members of King Crimson and Dream Theater join Sean Malone and Sean Reinert. No singing, which would be a good thing for Dream Theater. :D hehe
