Well, if your choices are riddles or postmodernist, poststructuralist French theory, go with the riddles because unlike the works of Baudrilliard, Derrida, or Foucault, a riddle may actually have some value.

while we are on the topic, allow me to share my favorite Parisian poem... by one of my favorite poets. A perpetually drunk mad genius who didn't just write poetry. A collection of his short fiction, for example, that stands out is Erections, Ejaculations, Exhibitions, and General Tales of Ordinary Madness.

anyway, he had a lot to say about America (esp the west coast). But also Paris.
