In my 20s I rafted the Gawley (WV) a few times
There was a rock in the middle of the river about 25’ above the surface
Rafts would stop there for anyone who wanted to jump off it
I did it but holy **** is 25’ a long way to fall
The fall in the tweet looks at least double that

Yup, did the same at the Cheat River in WV. Stopped at a place called Jump Rock and we all climbed up and jumped off. You couldn't jump with your helmet on because the upward force on the chin strap as you hit the water could break your neck. I tossed my helmet down ahead of me and it hit one of my buddies right on the head. Luckily he still had his helmet on

Class V rapids all the way except that one stretch. I've still got the picture
