Don't get me wrong, I'm not advocating the protesters or anyone else "calm down" at all. I'm just suggesting Trump's bluster is just that - bluster. He clearly has no inclination to lead, and being a fascistic leader kind of requires at least that.
He doesnt have to lead though, he just has to give permission and cover to the diffuse gangs of fascistic hostility we call many of America’s police forces.

Like today, a photo-op simply created a permission structure for the DC police to fire rubber bullets, teargas, and fists at peaceful protestors.

Now the president is encouraging his followers to attack protestors and the police to pile on.

Do you know why it’s obvious that Trumpism is a cult? Because these are people that most Trump supporters would have liked- a Catholic bishop, and Gen Honore.. They would have listened to what these two people had to say, but now Trumpers just consider them ‘part of the swamp’.. It’s an illness.

Episcopal bishop, i think.

I see your point, and you have a good one. His talent isn't leadership - it's divisiveness.

Just chatting with an old friend of mine online, who detests Trump even more than i do, which is hard to fathom.. Anyway, he wasnt even aware of the Trump photo op, or the order an hour ago to send US military troops into American cities to combat peaceful protestors.. Said he’s been on a self-imposed Facebook, Twitter, News etc ban since Friday... Not a terrible idea, I’m thinking of doing something similar myself, starting tomorrow morning... The problem is, how do you walk the fine line of ‘tuning out’ to maintain sanity, but still stay informed for when the ish starts to hit the fan even more?? I dont know the answer, but i might give it a shot... then again, i have that luxury.

I think we are watching a major historical event. This is too big of a deal to tune out, though I will agree that it is exhausting.

History rages on while network television airs gameshows, reality TV, a courtroom drama, and a primetime soap opera.

Just curious, since you introduce the topic of wealth and how it impacts society. I am not here to dispute the fact, there is a continuing disparity in wealth/poor. This will always exist, in a free society. Do you really want a socialist society? Or do you just want others that have, to give up theirs? Which is it?

It’s not an either/or proposition. It’s about fixing deficiencies in the system that make an unfair playing field.

So what is the end game here? Is the President and police supposed to just let rioters burn the cities? What is supposed to be done diplomatically to stop them? What stops it besides police and military action?
