This is what people are furious about. This is why we must police the police.

The national guard members who killed McAfee have still not been identified or reprimanded.

Disgusting. They should be behind bars.
This is what happens when you send in the guard and tell them to shoot when shot at, or attacked. It won't be precision, per say. I'm just shocked it was only 18 rounds. The local police usually shoot until they hear a click.

I probably read the same article last night. I also came to the same same conclusion. It also mentioned that you should not be ashamed that you are white, which made me feel better. I think some people that throw the phrase around should also read the article. When some people use it, it comes across as a way to cause someone to be ashamed for being white. Now that i have read that article, i will be less defensive and more inclined to really listen. I guess it’s kind of one of those “it’s not what you say, but how you say it” type of deals.

What got me, as a middle aged white male, to understand BLM better was this analogy:

If a house in your neighborhood was on fire, you wouldn't expect the fire department to hose down all the houses. Yes, your house matters but it's not the one on fire right now.

This is what happens when your leader gives you a tough guy act pep talk.

And sadly, we have no way of verifying any truths because conveniently, the police officers involved did not have their body cameras activated.

Anyone else watch this statement from the Defense Secretary? He did not make things better with the incident in Lafayette Park.

I still don't know what 4 chan is. Sorta, but not really.. Never looked at it, but from most accounts, not worth looking at.
It's an image board (think a very stripped down, barebones forum that is less community and more drive by posts with a focus on anonymity) with tons of other sub boards (over 70, I think) that cover everything from anime and video games to politics.

4chan has subtlety and not so subtlety driven internet culture for a long time. Memes as we know them probably wouldn't exist without 4Chan. Rick rolling started there. Tons of other stuff.

But the politics board, /pol/, has been a haven for racism, misogyny, straight up nazism etc. and actively promoted those ideals for a while. A lot of the extreme right wing ideology that you see with younger people (not so much the old guard) originated there.

You can't leave out how disgusting the site is. It's full of porn. Mostly cuck porn now. They try to torment incels (involuntarily celibate) with interracial porn making them feel inferior to breed more racism. There's also a lot of ridiculously gross fetish videos. Just the nastiest things you can imagine and plenty way beyond your imagination. The site even has history of child pornography.
There's also a ton of gore. Hideous videos of real gruesome deaths. Unfiltered videos of mass shootings, revenge violence, terror. It can't be overstated how hideous the site is.

I hope this doesn't entice people to check it out. 🤦‍♂️

I was just reading an article about BLM and the phrase “white privilege”. Up to this point, I thought the latter phrase was dumb. Then a person in the article phrased it that it doesn’t mean a white person’s life isn’t hard, but that the color of their skin hasn’t contributed to their life’s difficulties. I still don’t care much for the wording, but I understand it a lot better now.

So, I cannot tell y'all how much this means to read. Seriously.

I have been saying the same thing - even on these boards, specifically with the troublesome nature of the word 'privilege' - to a lot of people, with varying amounts of success.

I can say - and this is anecdotal, obviously - that there has been more movement like this in the recent protests than I've ever noticed before.

When I talk about this with people I know, they will point to my low income upbringing. And they'll ask, "How can you call yourself privileged? I know where you grew up, I know how you grew up. How can you say you are privileged?"

And I try to explain that 'privilege' doesn't mean life is easy. I would explain that I grew up with a lot of black kids in the same neighborhood. They had stories of being stopped by cops. They had stories of asked if the bikes they were riding were theirs. They had stories of going into the mall or the shopping center down the road and being stopped by management if they stole anything. They had stories of cops coming into their house. They had stories about their dads and uncles being in prison. They had stories of being badgered by older, white people who'd been living in the neighborhood before it became more integrated.

I had virtually *none* of those same stories. Comparable ages. Comparable income brackets. Same geography.

Totally different experiences.

It didn't mean I was richer than they were. It didn't mean I was more 'financially privileged." But I did enjoy privilege.

I am so heartened that y'all are having these experiences.

I would ask that you share these with friends and family members. It probably won't happen often, but even happening once means a lot.

another excellent one... related to this was a sentiment that I saw that attributed it to Nick Canon. Not sure if that's true or not. Essentially, it was this:

For years we heard "SAVE THE WHALES!" and nobody ever said, "ALL FISH MATTER!" It was understood that the whales, relative to the other fish, were facing more difficult obstacles just surviving.
