Peaked in January 2005

So, when did that last one close? Still there in 2019.
it hasnt

there was a doc on Blockbuster and they are the sole remaining franchise out of 5800~ stores

somehwere in Washington state iiirc

There is one Blockbuster left - here in Oregon

Bend, OR to be precise.

Thats it- i thought Wash state.

watched a doc on Blockbuster few years back and they were featured in it.

If you have spent any time here, the fact that we still have a functioning Blockbuster should come as no surprise
Is it right next to the soda fountain and five and dime?

The nostalgia for Blockbuster is funny to me, because when they were growing like a plague I remember people complaining about them putting better curated mom and pop video stores that had deeper rental catalogs out of business. Couldn't compete with Blockbuster on the new release front, though.

Is it nostalgia for that particular company or just browsing through video rental stores?

Like if someone waxes nostalgic for Peaches, I doubt it’s a hankering for a mediocre souvenir shop that sells records
