The Saints RB corps could see some changes this offseason... with Alvin Kamara entering the final year of his rookie contract, Latavius Murray being a ? due to his inexplicable underuse, and Dwayne Washington being an UFA.

Outside of the top 2 guys, I believe the Saints could benefit from upgrading the 3rd RB spot. Dwayne Washington appears to be a STer only. While he is a solid ST player, those guys are pretty easily replaced... and Washington is outside the top 3 STs players on the Saints roster.

I would be all for the Saints upgrading their “Washington” and going out into free agency and signing RB DeAndre’ Washington away from the Raiders. DeAndre Washington is a much more accomplished RB than Dwayne, and he is an excellent receiver out of the backfield. He can also contribute on STs and even work as a returner if needed. Both Washington’s have great speed, but DeAndre’ appears to have even better “game speed”.
He would be an upgrade to the #3 RB spot, and he could be had for close to the same $$ as the Saints current Washington.

Just food for thought as the offseason approaches....

Will we utilize any RB we acquire? Honest Q.

Good question... the quick response is, who knows!?!? Murray played like Deuce McAllister for 2 weeks when given the keys to the running game, and then he was a ghost the rest of the way!
This thread is more driven out of offseason boredom

Upgrade or not upgrade we never really utilized our running backs to it full potential. Washington never really had a chance to come in. Murray was not used enough.. I mean you can have the best running back in the league and still Payton won't use him enough

We need Payton to be involved in play design, game plan, scripting the first 15 plays but out of playcalling on Sunday. Payton's hubris is destroying this teams SB window. Too cute, too often in an attempt to play into his offensive genius status. Let Carmichael handle the play calling.

Doesnt matter who the RBs are, if you arent utilizing them when they are chewing up yards, theres no point. Youre better off investing in WRs.

FB. With Zack Lines retirement we need to find another stud FB. Any team which expects to run successfully needs a FB. 3rd or 4th option at RB is IMO always going to be a STr first and inactive player second.

FB Andy Janovich is a FA this offseason. He plays for the Broncos, and he would be an excellent replacement for the retired Zach Line.

If the Saints look to address the FB spot with a rookie, Kelton Moore (Nevada) is a nice prospect that will likely be a UDFA... If they want to use a late pick, AJ Dillon (Boston College) could be a beast at FB. However, both of these prospects would have to make the transition from RB to FB in the NFL.

I think he’s just trying to get Brees his records before he retires. We were much more balanced offensively when Bridgey was in
