The 6-3 Saints, leading the NFC South right now, have only one NFC loss (5-1). Both the East leaders (Giants) and the West leaders (Seahawks) are 5-2 in the conference right now.

Thought that was interesting ... and it shows how the Saints can weather AFC losses so long as they take care of business in the conference.

Seattle has a horrible NFC sked remaining, though, and we still have to play the Falcons, Giants, Panthers and Cowboys. Seattle should run the table in the rest of its conference games, so we have to win 3 out of those 4 and of course take care of business against the Skins and 9ers.

We should win out. I don't see any team beating us the rest of the way. The Giants are looking awful right now. No way they can score with us.

#2 may be the best to hope for, but a little early to predict

It is early ... but at this point, the Saints do control their own playoff destiny in regards to earning a bye week.

David ... 13-3 would be mind-boggling. Hope it comes to pass.

I certainly hope we don't get the bye-week! Remember what happened after the last bye-week!

I know, I know ... but in this playoff format (post-1989), the bye week and the associated home playoff game has proved to be a big advantage.

Man....It makes me fell good to see people not screaming that the sky is falling! We have a ton still to do, but this team has played well. We had a chance to win that gam, but we just didn't hold on to the ball and they did.

That thought crossed my mind today. 2 Losses to AFC teams is going to help in the tie breakers down the line.

yeah if we are going to lose, it's best to lose to the AFC. hopefully we dont lose any more though. 13-3 would be home field untill at least the nfc championship game

Getting a bye in the playoffs not only guarantees you a home game, it also guarantees you one less game you have to play to get to the Superbowl in post season. 3 vs. 4

That's why it's so favorable.

IF we are able to secure a bye week in the playoffs, I would expect the emotion in the dome to be like week 3 VS, ATL, rather than like the Baltimore game. I really don't feel like we would need to worry about a "let down" in that one...and if there is one..... we deserve to be mocked and laughed at.

Excellent post. Must take season one game at a time instead of looking at bigger picture.

Seeding after week 10:

1 Chicago
2 New Orleans
3 Seattle
4 N.Y. Giants
5 Philadelphia
6 Atlanta

Saints and Chicago with first round bye, Bears would play the lowest ranking surviving wildcard team (Atlanta @ Seattle or Philly @ NYG), Saints the other.
