It's always interesting when something happens to hear what comes from people. With Rankins going down for probably a quarter of the season, we hear "next man up".
The fact is this is a significant blow to a team trying to find it's way back to respectability on defense. This was the cornerstone guy. Sure you want coaches saying we are going to move forward, next man up, etc. but the truth is there is no next man.
Will have Fairly and and second year unproven Davison help. Yes but make not mistake this will affect the psyche of the team. Noted yesterday the defense was much less spirited in practice after Rankins went down.
The spin machine won't fix the facts.
