Over the past few years, Louisiana has become a hot recruiting area for schools across the country. Many of those Louisiana recruits have translated their college football skills into the NFL. In 2004 and 2005 the state of Louisiana ranked No. 1 per capita in producing high school football players that went on to play in the NFL.
In 2006, Mississippi took over the nation’s top spot in producing NFL players per capita, but this year’s draft class may push Louisiana right back to No. 1.
Here is my take on the Top 13 players from Louisiana high schools that should be selected in the NFL draft.
Glenn Dorsey – Defensive Tackle, LSU (East Ascension High School)
Dorsey was regarded as one of the top defensive tackles in the Deep South when he came out of East Ascension, and he lived up to every bit of the hype given to him. The speedy inside performer developed into the most dominant defensive player at LSU since A.J. Duhe back in the 1970’s.
