There's been a lot of commentary about his play today, with him going throw some rookie growing pains on a few different occasions and the fact that Byrd was benched in favor of him.
I'd like to applaud the kid for having a short memory and continuing to play fast and play hard.
Let's think about where we were in this game. After a touchdown on our first possession of the second half, we failed to do anything on offense with an interception and 3 punts. On our own 40 yard line, 4th and 6, I was livid when Sean Payton sent out the punt team. There was 6 minutes left, we were down by 13 with 2 timeouts, and quite frankly if San Diego even has a sub-par/mediocre drive we're likely going to lose this game. I thought the decision to punt was damn near a throwing of the white towel.
First play of the drive, Vonn Bell puts his hat on the football and gives this team LIFE.
If we're to turn this season around and grow as a football team, I think we could look back on this play and say that this was the play that saved our season. And I'm not saying that we're going to the playoffs or anything like that, but 0-4 is a very dark place. We've been there too many times, and I think we can all be thankful that we're not going back there.
To the posters that have any comments about meaningless wins and this hurting our draft position, I'd appreciate it if you didn't participate in this thread.
