The TUF Finale is part of the pick’em contest so we’ll get to it first. I’ll toss the matchups for Strikeforce’s card below but pick at your leisure.
This season of TUF was ok. I found myself rooting for Brookins. The semi-finals were boring in my opinion. I have no idea how Dana called that last fight a dog fight, unless he meant Johnson and Phan were dogs.
Prelim Card
Rich Attonita v Dave Branch
Pablo Garza v Fredson Paixao
Will Campuzano v Nick Pace
Ian Loveland v Tyler Toner
Cody McKenzie v Aaron Wilkinson
Main Card
Leonard Garcia v Nam Phan
Phan likes to shower
Rick Story v Johny Hendricks
Two wrestlers which hopefully leads to some stand-n-wang.
Kendall Grove v Demian Maia
Can Maia get a takedown? Can Grove keep it standing? If Grove wins, I hope he disrespects Maia or Brazil and Wanderlei (who sometimes corners Maia) takes it as a slight and challenges him to a death brawl.
Jonathan Brookins v Michael Johnson
Johnson might have a future but every fight I saw on the show, he gassed. It’s not like on the heavyweight show were ever big guy was suckin wind but it was close. The only thing that bugs me about Brookins is his hair. Not that I care but he seems to fix it a lot during his fights.
Stephan Bonnar v Igor Pokrajac
Pok is 22-7 overall and 1-2 in the UFC with a win over James Irvin and losses to James Te Huna and Vlad Matyushenko. Bonnar for the win.
But the more important question about this main event, is it the worst main event of all time for a TUF Finale?
I believe so.
TUF 1 – Shamrock v Franklin
TUF 2 – Sanchez v Nick Diaz
TUF 3 – Ken-Flo v Stout (honorable mention)
TUF 4 – Serra v Lytle
TUF 5 – Pulver v Penn
TUF 6 – Huerta v Guida
TUF 7 – Tanner (RIP) v Grove
TUF 8 – Nover v Escudera/Bader v Magalhaes (honorable mention)
TUF 9 – Sanchez v Guida
TUF 10 – Nelson v Schaub & (Kimbo v Alexander)
TUF 11 – McGee v McCray (Leben v Simpson/Hamill v Jardine)
Strikeforce: Henderson v Babalu on Showtime (same night)
This card took a beating over the past week. Hershel Walker dropped off as well as Overeem’s brother.
prelims
Ben Brown v JW Wright
Lee Brousseau v Mike Glenn
Terrell Brown v Patrick Cummins
Justin Lawrence v Max Martyniouk (sweep the leg)
Fernando Bettega v Wayne Phillips
Main Card
Benji Radach v Ovince St. Preux
Mike Kyle v Antonio Silva
Robbie Lawler v Matt Lindland
Paul Daley v Scott Smith
Dan Henderson v Renato “Babalu” Sobral
