We had a survivor at our VFW post in Dale City, Va. He passed away several years ago. Interesting guy, but he never spoke of the sinking. No one asked, either. We figured if he wanted to talk about it, then he would.

It was a horror story. I can't even imagine what those sailors went through and then not be recognized for their sacrifice because of the nature of their mission.
