There's still time for Carr and Saints to put the toothpaste back in the tube. (7 Viewers)

That would be the best outcome for all parties involved. If they want to divorce...do it next year. To compete for the division and afford the young QB's the best environment to develop, it involves Carr being the starting QB, and more importantly...on this team..
While I almost agree with you about needing Carr I know better. Yes Carr would be the best player and competitor to win the division, but no he would not be the best team mate or leader in the QB room or locker room. Heck Arron Rogers would be better and I do not like him or want him anywhere near this team. With three ex QB’s coaching our guys I think keeping Carr out of the locker room is best for the team at this point.

Listening to Mike and Bobby yesterday and they both alluded to the situation with Carr coming directly from Mickey. Straight up, if Carr is healthy, he will be the day one starter on this team. Makes sense too. Spencer may have upside but he's not ready to take over the starting role and I wouldn't want to potentially ruin Tyler by throwing him to the wolves out of the gate (unless he truly shows he's ready during camp and the preseason).
I get this comment in the context that none of the other QB’s has done anything to supplant Carr yet! This cannot happen until training camp so to say anything else is not good business sense.

I will be pissed beyond pisstivity if we drafted a 26 year old qb with the 40th overall pick to be a backup. If Shough isn't prepared to start this year the pick was a failure. If the Saints didn't think he could come in and start right away then they shouldn't have drafted him. They could've started Rattler and if he fails, get a qb next year. That's what I was hoping for. But they saw a QB they liked and the got him. Fine, now it's time to expedite the development because for better or worse, Shough is starting.
No one expects a second round drafted QB to start right away! Your expectations are unreasonable and a recipe for disaster! He may start but it should not be expected.

If the difference really is 5 wins vs. 7 to 8 wins then I see no point in starting Carr even if he is healthy and wants to play here.

That's not going to get you in the playoffs or win the division either way. All it would serve to do is get you a worse draft pick. On the other hand even if you only win 5 with Shough, at least you find out if you need to draft another QB next year and if he isn't great, you have a higher draft pick to get a QB.

I have some sympathy for the idea that maybe you can win 9 or 10, but given age and the loss of our two starting CBs from last year, along with a scheme change, our defense if likely to be about as bad as it was last year so even if you have good health on offense I'm not sure this team is built to win 9 or 10.

I think the whole win prediction thing is total garbage.....some act like it's set in stone.....none of us have any idea how the team will do, regardless of who plays at QB.....

I don't want Carr playing another down for the Saints, but if CKM decides to put him on the field I won't like it but I will trust he made a more informed choice.....I hope Shough wins the job outright in TC....

It would be ideal if Shough turned out to be very good and we can shift focus to putting weapons around him and building the defense. We should be more or less set on the OL. At least we won't need to use high picks on the OL for several years.

Yup, it's kind of what I'm hoping for, on the other hand if Rattler wins the job I'd be fine with that also but, to me, at least the early indications are that CKM is not enamored by Rattler, maybe that changes?

But if we get a 2nd round rookie starting, playing well, we have a very inexpensive quality starting QB for 3-4 years and as you say can build around him.....

One of the biggest factors that we need to facilitate with this new era is better health.....we have too many key players missing too many games.....hopefully that improves....

This still has nothing to do with what I originally said. Everyone has a right to speak in explanation or defense of themselves. "Shut up and dribble" or "stick to acting/music" are disrespectful attitudes in my opinion. I highly doubt when someone criticizes anyone here that any of us remains quiet about it.

You agree that we all care about what people think of us and we all want to be liked and accepted. Being a public figure does not change that and it does not take away that persons right to seek approval and acceptance. The scale of public attention does not change the humanity.

Also, Carr could have a lot more attention if he wanted it. He obviously avoids public attention as much as he can as a starting NFL QB. Paradoxically, his staying out of the public eye for the most part is one of the things that fans dislike about him. "He should be in Mardi Gras parades, he should be at the Super Bowl, he should eat at these places and these foods, he should be the face of the franchise."

It's weird to hold both his public attention and his efforts to stay out of the public eye against him. Darned if he does and darned if he doesn't.

I understand that's your opinion. I have a very different opinion. Everyone has a right to have their thoughts and feelings, and everyone has a right to express those thoughts and feelings. Being a public figure does not take that right away. If someone doesn't like what another person is saying, then that someone has a right not to listen, but they don't have a right to shut them up.
He chose that life, and public scrutiny comes with it. Fame is a byproduct of being a starting NFL QB, and he has been paid extremely well over the years. Maybe he should have choosen a different path. What's the old saying? "If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen". This is not even a major media market.

Carr’s ship in NOLA has sailed…

There are still a few fans holding out some sliver of hope that Carr miraculously changes his attitude, family planning, press and fan relations, pay demands, shoulder surgery decisions, and overall middling performances…. To deliver them a backdoor division title, and first round playoff loss.

Because while he’s never likely to win anything of significance…. At least he’s not a rookie or 2nd year player that would symbolize we are in tank / true rebuild mode…

I say embrace the rebuild…. Stop wishing for something that’s never going to lead to long term success…. And let the dude go suck up someone else’s cap for little to no return…. So we can go see if we have that dude or need to go get him next year.

This team is waaaay overdue to sallow this pill.

The situation is right, the time is right, the coach is right…. The status quo is pointless…. So it’s Carr stage Left.

Couldn't agree more.

The issue is not what the fans think however, it's Loomis. And he's said flat out if Carr comes back he's our starter.

As long as he is in control, Mickey will never, ever rebuild.

That's clearly your opinion. I disagree. I don't think having a high public profile means a person should, "just shut up and entertain us."

The saying isn't "if you want to comment on the heat, get out of the kitchen." More importantly, sayings like that are stupid and only used to bully people in my opinion.
