True, but the Saints under Payton have done alot more winning overall than losing, which is why I can't understand why so many want him gone. Understand fans feeling this way if it was Mora or Ditka after +10 years of not winning at least one playoff game.

The Saints will not win every year. And they still look respectable for the most part.

That is true. Even though 7-9 is not exactly what we've become accustomed to the last ten years or so even at 7-9 the Saints are no longer the easy mark they were for the better part of almost 40 years!!

There were times in the first 35 years or so that teams would look at the schedule and pencil in a win over the Saints and more often than not it happened exactly that way..........

The NFL is a now league. Payton's record from 5 years ago and beyond helped keep the wolves at bay, but he's going to have a rough time staying in charge if he goes 5 for 6 on losing seasons. Even the winning season in that run involved playing .500 ball after the opening 5 game win streak.
