Things That Make You Feel Old (1 Viewer)

This reminds me of riding to school with some friends and the biggest hair in the car was lighting a um, cigarette, yeah a cigarette, anyway that Rave hairspray was highly flammable. I can still see my best friend, the driver, slapping Collette's bangs while trying to maintain control of the car.

This makes me feel old - I was 26 and at work watching it all on TV.
I had come home between classes to get lunch. The tv was on in the living room so I watched the launch…

I pretty much walked around in a haze the rest of the day. I did go to the gym in the afternoon and one of my friends said “all day I just wanted to cry.”

Realizing that you may have to start keeping a gel cushion in the car trunk because some restaurants’ hard chairs really hurt your butt
The first time you carry the chair back with the cushion into the stadium

i think i may just be grumpy, but why in the fork do manufacturers think everyone wants their sheetty plastic products shiny? keep that matte so it doesn't show every forking scratch known to man. same sheet goes for anything electronic. no one wants that rgb club light up bullshirt.

I volunteer at the local high school and one of the students came up to me and a few other “older guys” and said, “You ever heard of……Blockbuster? What’s that?” The concept of actually going to a store, renting a (gasp) VHS tape, rewinding it and returning it is completely foreign to them. I relayed to them the anticipation of a new release, hauling proverbial a** to Blockbuster to see if it is in only to find that every copy is rented out. I remember we wanted to see Platoon when it came out. All gone so my dad says, “Well, let’s get Platoon Leader. Should be the same.” Dear God, it was a blatant rip off with that 80’s Z-List actor Micheal Dudikoff and it was……not good.

Regardless, the younger generation will never know the phrase, “Be Kind. Rewind.” They looks I got? Yeah, I’m old…….

If the movie wasn’t on the shelf, you had to do two things…check when it was due back and check that cart with all the returned movies that hadn’t been put out yet.

and it sometimes took well over a year for a movie to even get to VHS, none of this you can stream it 3 weeks after it was in the theaters

Did your Dad admit that the movie was garbage? Or was he ride or die?

And if you wanted to buy the VCR tape it was like $300 in 1990 money.
