It's been an offseason of turmoil for the Saints, mainly revolving around Roger Goodell and the NFL's decision to impose unprecedented penalties upon the Saints for their role in "Bountygate." Can the team rebound from a tumultuous offseason to make the playoffs? Or will they become another run of the mill team?

2. What's changed during the offseason?
Quite a bit. The Saints feature a number of new faces, and are missing a number of familiar ones.
As part of the NFL's punishment stemming from the bounty scandal, the Saints will be operating in 2012 without head coach Sean Payton.
Never before in NFL history has a team been punished in such a matter, and quite frankly it is impossible to know just how a team will react as a result. It's easy to say that the team will fall apart, and be unable to keep going along at a high level without their lead man in charge. Then again, one could argue that it's the players than make the difference, not the coach. Of course the reality is likely somewhere in between, with the players making the difference only if a coach puts them in the best position to win. It will be especially difficult in all aspects this season though because the team will also be without interim head coach Joe Vitt for six games, general manager Mickey Loomis for eight games, linebacker Jon Vilma for a full season (as of now), and defensive end Will Smith for four games (as of now).
