Does the brown recluse spider deliver a toxin, like a venomous snake? What accounts for the severity of symptoms vs, say, a fire ant?

Side question for the house:

Has anyone ever had a pet get bitten by a brown recluse? If a brown recluse can fell a full-grown human, it would seem that a house cat or a small/medium dog would have poor odds

Not had one bitten but, yes, can kill a dog.


And, heck, enough fire ants can be deadly to a cow.

The doctor cut the fluid blister open, drained and dressed it.

I had so much nausea that if I would've watched it drain...all of the contents of my stomach would've evacuated the premises.

I've been bitten 3 times in 6 years by brown recluse spiders.
