This offensive system doesn't work without Sean Payton. It barely worked without Brees. (1 Viewer)

It always cracks me up when some people act like most defensive coordinators somehow could never figure out how to stop Brees until the playoffs began, and then some magic light bulb would come on in January.

If the guy was so easy to stop with his "noodle arm" or "defenses not having to respect the deep ball", we wouldn't have seen multiple 11 to 13 win seasons in a row.

Jared Cook completely turned that game around with his fumble late in the 3rd qtr. Otherwise the Saints potentially go up 14 on that drive. And neither of the 2 second half interceptions probably happen since the offensive approach probably would have been very different.
It's a common thing you see on this board. People act as if you face different teams in the playoffs or that the rules are somehow different in the playoffs. "People figured us out.." or "Everyone knows that won't work in the playoffs." It's insane. We beat Tampa twice that year....it's hard to beat a team three times and we just made too many mistakes and were dealing with major injuries (Brees was beat up as all hell in that game). It is what it is.

Dennis Allen never wanted Pete Carmichael the Gimp as offensive coordinator and playcaller

The decision to have PC as OC was Loomis's decision with Gayles's urging

Loomis and Benson wanted continuality and awarding of 15 years of service

PC is Dennis savior dont go to jail card

end of the season, going to look bad on Loomis and Benson if they fire DA when the problem was the incompetent PC the Gimp and both their decision to force the Gimp on him
It will look bad on Loomis and Benson in who's eyes? Where did you read that Loomis and Mrs. Benson urged DA to retain Carmichael? since when do owners and GM tell HC who their OC can or needs to be? DA wanted Carmichael back just like he wanted to bring back Marrone, he wanted to surround himself with trusted people.

DA was interviewing other OC/playcallers

Pete didnt even want the job. He wanted to stay in the Saints org but wanted a different and lesser position. lol

what does that show everyone?

wasnt that a huge red flag to everyone?

2 years ago, Chargers hired Lombardi the saints QB coach to be their OC/and playcaller. They didnt even bother or consider the Gimp

***If we had only an average playcaller, we would be minimum 8-4

I'm still waiting to go over 10 HB screen plays called this year.
