One of the biggest hurdles for Tim Hightower last season was learning how to get on the same with Drew Brees in pass protection.

There’s a lot going on there, and, if you’re coming from a different system where things are done differently, it can be a lot to grasp. In some ways, Hightower had to learn how to see defenses the same way as Brees so that he could better understand what he needed to do.

“I think that was the biggest hurdle for me at first, making sure I was on the same page as him coming from different systems where a quarterback doesn’t always set the protections,” Hightower said. “It’s the line, or you have a set going into the week. Drew does a lot where he changes the protection, so you almost got to think the way he’s thinking. He could change it at the last minute; he can set the protection other ways.”
