Please read the Posting Guidelines announcement. No, seriously, take the time to read it! There is a copy of the most important portion of the guidelines quoted below for your convenience.

Every few months I have to post about this because no one likes to take the time to read our posting guidelines... I know that I don't. But it is really important to do so here, because our standards are not like many of the other communities out there.

There are a few things that we have been moderating an awful lot lately that I want to touch on to make sure that it is understood.

*We allow ZERO profanity here. Not even the thinly veiled variety. It's all **** (asterisks) or nothing at all. To be blunt... I don't care what environment you were raised in or what you think should be kosher, I just do not want any sort profanity here. In almost 10 years, that is the way it has always been and that is how it will always be.

Do not post links to anything profane or containing sexually explicit content. If unsure, Drop a PM to an Admin, Mod, or myself.

*Do not Spam these boards with any types of advertisements whatsoever without contacting me first..

*Do not call out the mods on the public boards.

*Do not post for no other reason but to pad your post counts. Quality over quantity. If we have to, we'll just remove post counts all together like we had done for the past 5 years.

*Keep your sig pic image file weights below what is specified in the guidelines below.

*We are about civil discussion and debate. This is a friendly community. Keep it civil, or you will likely find yourself on the outside looking in rather quickly. We don't have a problem with passionate debate, but don't get personal, and don't obsess. We don't like confrontational and/or condescending jerks or pot stirring trolls here... we simply ban them... and often without warning.

*With nearly 13,000 members here, whenever the mods and admins have to start working overtime dealing with members that are guilty of crossing these guidelines, our patience grows thin as we don't have time for trying to continously enlighten people and trying to get them to adhere to our policies. The mods and admins are all volunteers and do not get paid a cent. In fact, this is a free site so no one gets paid. They would all like to enjoy their time here as much as anyone else, but that is becoming increasingly difficult with 1000's of posts each day and so much to moderate... not to mention all of the member support which there is a tremendous amount of that I handle personally. So please help us all out while at the same time enlightening yourselves on where the lines are drawn as per acceptability. That way the community will be more enjoyable for everyone.

There are a lot of good members signing up... and we sure want to keep you here, believe me. I just want to make sure that everyone understands what our standards are.

Longtime members that understand what we are about... feel free to help enlighten those that you see crossing the line... in a diplomatic fashion, of course. :)

Thanks for reading.

POSTING GUIDELINES

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this BB to post any material or topic which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, deceptive, inaccurate, racist, insulting, abusive, inflammatory, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually graphic, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise in violation of any law, including stalking or otherwise harassing individual members.

Generally acting like a persistent jerk while teetering on the edge of acceptability concerning guidelines will inevitably lead to the offending member having his/her posting privileges revoked. We strive to have a courteous and respectful community where members can discuss and debate without fear of abusive and unnecessarily rude behavior from other members.

Veiled profanity is unacceptable in the Saints Super Forum. We allow the use of either all asterisks/symbols or not at all. For example "****" and "*&*%$" are acceptable, while s**t or sh*t" are not. Calling out other members on the boards is frowned upon.

Free debate is welcome on all the forums and diversity of opinion lies at the heart of a good debate. Toward that end everyone is free to have their own opinion so long as it is expressed in a civil manner, is within the subject matter topic of the forum and does not otherwise violate forum rules. Restating the same opinion repeatedly (harping on it) in the same thread or in multiple threads; badgering others that have differing opinions than your own; starting multiple threads on the same topic; and generally beating a dead horse is against forum rules.

The forum administrators and moderators have had multiple complaints that the board is overrun with variations of the same topics, with the same posters expressing the same opinions. In an effort to improve the overall quality of the posts on the board the moderators have been asked to discourage the practice by merging threads, deleting threads, warning offenders and banning repeat offenders where appropriate.

As you all know, our moderators are volunteers and moderating is not a perfect science. They have been instructed to enforce the policy exercising as much restraint as possible and in such a way to encourage free expression of opinion. Your support of their volunteerism is appreciated and calling the Admins and Mods out publicly on the forum is an invitation to be banned. Questions can be made by private message or email. In other words If you have a problem with the way this board is run, or any of the members moderating it, do not post your dissatisfaction or question policy publicly, send an email to the webmaster. We will not tolerate what we consider public undermining.

When posting stories/articles from outside sources, we request that you tease these articles rather than to post them in their entirety. By teasing, we mean that it is ok to post a couple of paragraphs and then just link (place the URL) to the rest of the article, like we do on the news page. This will ensure that we avoid having any potential problems with copyright infringement.

When re-posting topics or responses from other boards, please give credit to the author and site.

Registering more than one username is generally frowned upon, particularly when using the second to back up your own opinion or other deceptive reasons, or to regain access to the boards when access has been suspended. We do allow for at-work and at-home handles and the use of them for other non-deceptive reasons.

We do not allow the registering of handles using the names of Saints coaches, players, media, or front office personnel unless you are actually that person.

We frown upon members using tactless and rude references like "stinks", "idiot", "sucks", etc. when discussing Saints' players, coaches and front office personnel. While constructive criticism is welcome and encouraged here, many players, coaches, front-office personnel and their families frequent the SSF regularly and we ask that you seek a higher level of discourse by at least being respectful and considerate of these people.

Also, for the benefit of users with slower dialup connections, we ask that you keep your signature pics less than 30K in files size, and if you hot-link to images outside of this domain, please keep them below 50K, and also make sure that you have the permission of the website that you are hot-linking to when using their images.

Although this BB does not and cannot review every message posted and is not responsible for the content of any of these messages, we at this BB reserve the right to delete any message, or remove a members posting privileges for any or no reason whatsoever. You remain solely responsible for the content of your messages, and you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Saintsreport.com, and it's agents and admins, vbulletin (the makers of the bulletin board software), and their agents with respect to any claim based upon transmission of your message(s).

Posting or advertising links to other similar message board systems for the purpose of harvesting members is expressly forbidden unless permission is first received from the webmaster.

We at this BB also reserve the right to reveal your identity (or whatever information we know about you) in the event of a complaint or legal action arising from any message posted by you.

Please note that advertisements (other than approved team related links), chain letters, pyramid schemes, and solicitations are inappropriate on this BB and not allowed... Nor are advertisments with links to personal business sites allowed in Signature files or otherwise.

What are our Signature File Guidelines?

Here are some simple and VERY old rules.

A) Please limit them to 5 lines of text. No short stories or mini-novels.

B) Only ONE pic per signature.

C) Keep your signature pics less than 30K in files size, and if you hot-link to images outside of this domain, please keep them below 50K, and also make sure that you have the permission of the website that you are hot-linking to when using their images.

D) Your sig pics may have a maximum width of 500 pixels and a maximum height of 300 pixels.

E) Keep them spam and agenda free.

Avatar Guidelines: Rule of thumb... If an avatar shows more than you would see at your typical family beach, it is likely over the line. It is often tough to know where the line is drawn exactly when it comes to acceptability and we often review them on a case by case basis. We do reserve the right to delete any avatar that we deem to be too provocative or otherwise, for any reason whatsoever.

The mods and administrators have a tough job....let's do what we can to make their lives easier! They do a lot for us....think of it: if there weren't sr.com, whatever would we do with our free (or not so free) time?

Mods/Admins: :worthy: :worthy:

I know through personal experience how difficult it is to moderate a forum. I served has a moderator of the soccer boards with AOL. I did it in 1998,.. yes, during the World Cup! BTW, have you heard, I am a fascist,..who knew,...LOL

On another note: I am a fan of Arsenal FC (English Premier league club). They have a forum called, Arsenal-Mania. It got so bad there, the Admin took an extrem action. They actualy have levels, in which you have to be a certain level in order to post in the main forums. Your post are judge for quality. Most of the post here are below their standards.

We are very lucky to have a hard working volunteer staff that provide with one, if not the best forum interface and tolerance on the net.

We do not know how lucky we are!

Thanks, Andrus. Thanks for this site, and thanks for the professionalism shown here where the talk is football and football only.

I, for one, appreciate this very much, Andrus. If my little girl is in the room, I don't want her to see some of the things that are on other team boards. Thanks for keeping this family friendly.

I'm a noob here, but I'm a vet of a couple of other internet boards, and one thing that is a characteristic of ALL boards is the multiple posting of the exact same topic. I know people like to be the first to have posted a new and interesting item, but it only takes a minute or so to do a forum search or a cursory browse over all the thread titles on the first few pages or so to see if someone has already posted your topic. It's crazy when I see mods having to merge threads 2, 3, 4 or even more times. Make their jobs easier, do a search. ;)

In other news: Thanks Andrus for a cool looking and well run site. :9:

Pay Pal 5 dollars to this site while you are at it. It really helps and it's money well spent!
