It's just one game. If we are not careful, it will quickly become 2 games. In a row. I think having a depleted coaching staff was a factor. Not an excuse. No excuse for that! But we do get them back in New Orleans this season. A chance for redemption.

I think he is being perfectly blunt. The Saints do not have their long term QB answer on the team. However, again, Jameis is the man for this year. I do not see Jameis being signed long term after this one year stint, unless MT and TQS return and the offense goes crazy good. Passing for ~100 yards per game, is not going to get you a championship. The two wins the Saints have, are basically from two stout defensive performances. Jameis has played very pedestrian in both, at best. The Panthers game, he was bad, very bad, but it did not matter once the Saints fell behind. The Saints were not going to win that game without 5 defensive starters.

By that metric, every WR on the roster short of Harris shouldn't be on the roster next season. Hell, if you used that same metric for Drew's first season, he wouldn't be on the team either. It's beyond obvious without even looking at anything more than broadcast footage that the only WR getting consistent separation is Harris (and perhaps Stills). There was at least several plays where Winston was standing in a clean pocket for a good 5 or so seconds and was being forced to hold onto the ball because nobody could get open. That and Payton keeping him on a Teddy-esque leash is the reason for the 100-ish yard games. Even prime Brees would look mediocre with this group.

You can't fairly judge Winston's offensive performances without at least having MT out there. Anything less is being narrow-sighted. Even then, you're three games in. Way too early to make that call.
