Thank you Mike Detillier for sharing your stories with us on Tom Dempsey. Especially the funny tidbit on Pete Finney and Buddy D!!!

 
We only remember them when they die. Just the way the world works. Those who say he will be missed - did you really think about him? Go visit him? I doubt it. RIP Mr. Dempsey. I had no idea you were stuck in a nursing home in NO. Hopefully, you had family around.
 
Mr Tom was awesome. I can hear him speaking those stories. Remember, back then kickers were gunners and were hit all the time.

My dad subscribed to Gridweek when I was a kid. I distinctly remember this issue after the kick...

Note to add... My dad worked the games at Tulane as a communications person between the game and the press box. This was way before wireless communications obviously.
He said when Dempsey kicked the ball it sounded like a cannon going off...

Love the story Finney tells about Buddy D. and the fact that he had a bet on the game.
