Tommy Lee Lewis (1 Viewer)

I would think Thomas would strike more fear in defenses than Cooks and Tommylee. I think he is a serious deep threat, he can muscle his way open and does not miss the ball. Any combination of Cooks, Snead, Thomas, and Tommylee are very dangerous.

I wouldn't call Thomas a deep threat. Sure...he can sneak up on you...but I'm talking about a guy who makes free safeties worried about needing to be that extra man over top. Devery Henderson, Robert Meachem, and Brandin Cooks are those types of guys. I think that they will shade the safeties deeper on Lee's side because his speed is so legit.

Kids like this are why I question the combine having them run the 40 yard dash in their underwear.

Run it in pads, for chrissakes. They're never going to be playing football in their underwear, in the NFL at least.

Sounds like Lewis had a rough practice against the Texans will multiple dropped passes. Hope he gets a lot of time in the return game on Saturday.

Where'd you hear that? Was it in the practice thread from yesterday? I was too busy at work to play around on SR and didn't see anything from that thread really. Just curious because they were still singing his praises on WWL last night on Sports Talk.

Lewis at 4.52 is a deep threat and Thomas at a 4.57 isnt? So what makes one a deep threat and the other not is somewhere in the .05 of a second, Good to know.....

Lewis was hurt while running his 40 yard dash. In all likelihood...he is a 4.3ish type of guy. He is significantly faster than Thomas...and probably one of the three fastest guys on our team (right there with Cooks and Spiller).

If you think that Thomas is as fast as Lewis...you need to get your eyes check...or watch Lewis play (if you haven't had the chance yet). Dude leaves a trail of smoke behind him when he runs.

I'm not arguing with you Lewis is a deep threat or not but your definition of what makes some a deep threat or not. In this thread and many others you seem to base whether someone is a deep threat based solely on their 40 time. A deep pass or play is really a play of 15+ yards. So doesn't that make any WR capable of making a play 15 yards or longer a deep threat. And saying a player is not a deep threat is also insinuating that he us incapable of making a play 15+ plus yards down the field.

Maybe instead of saying only Cooks and Lewis are deep threats and call them our field stretchers or burners which is a better term for what I think you are trying to portray.

Plenty of 4.55ish guys are deep threats when they are also 6'3"+

Dez Bryant, AJ Green, Jordy Nelson, etc. and you better believe teams are double covering them over the top.

Thomas is that kind of player.

We have all been saying Lewis runs a 4.52 but nfldraftscout shows him at a 4.48 which I don't think they had listed a couple months ago. They must have added it when they realized is a relevant shot at making a team.

I heard some talk on the radio. However, there was some mention of drops in an article in the Advocate:

HOUSTON -- It was pretty clear this wasn’t the best day for the offense after Drew Brees and Max Unger had two fumbled exchanges.

And then that point was hammered home when Brees threw two interceptions -- one to Johnathan Joseph, one to Charles James -- on passes intended to Tommylee Lewis.

“I felt like today was a little sloppy. I don’t want to give ourselves any excuses, but you travel here to a different environment. Bottom line, I think there are going to be a lot of things on that tape today that we can improve upon. We’ll work on it tomorrow and then we’ll play these guys.”

But even during a sloppy day, the offense was still able to make some plays. Brees completed 12 of his 18 attempts, which included a dropped passes by Lewis. And on his two interceptions, they came in long yardage situations.

For an offense that is in constant pursuit of perfection, the performance won’t suffice, but there were still some solid moments interspersed within the sloppiness.

Luke McCown was 6-of-8. He had one pass dropped by Lewis.

Great, thanks. I really appreciate the info. Been so busy the past few days I haven't been able to keep up with practice and it's driving me crazy!

At least the game's on the weekend and I can be excited and watch football porn all day leading up to the game...or just mess around on SR instead lol.

I don't agree with this at all. Just like Bonchie mentioned. Are Dez Bryant, Jordy Nelson, and AJ Green not deep threats? If they are, then what do they have that Thomas doesn't?

Drives me crazy when people act like Thomas can't be a deep threat. I mean, I know he still has to prove it in the regular season. But there is absolutely nothing that would lead me to believe that he can't be.

I didn't even know he played football! I've been a big fan ever since 'U.S. Marshall', though.

Heck yea there is. Right now he'll be one of the luckiest players in the league to be on the final 53

I meant that as Coleman being the odd man out. I think I misread the persons post I was responding to. Completely agree that Coleman has not earned a roster spot
