He might've been signed simply to play the role of Taysom Hill in practice against their defense. Actors have to eat, too, I guess.

Comp picks only come into play when a player finishes out his current contract. He also has to be a vested veteran. (4 years on active roster, Stevens doesn't have even a game)

Saw a couple of his college games and he was pretty erratic as a passer. Maybe with time and good coaching, he may develop but I doubt it.

We waived him last week. So they don’t have to sign him to the active roster. He can go to practice squad.
