Analysis Top 10 TE's in 2025 Draft (5 Viewers)

I like both Warren and Fannin but when in doubt I'm going with the dude who is dominating future NFL players. Tyler Warren is the entire reason Penn state is a playoff level offense and also has an elite build for TE at 6'6 260lbs so he can be dominant in the run game in addition to pass game. Dudes every bit as good a prospect as Brock Bowers imo.

Warren and Fannin are great prospects at TE. I can't however get behind the idea of them being as good of a prospect as Bowers was. Bowers imo was the best TE prospect I had seen in 25 years of closely watching the draft. He also looks to arguably be the best TE in the NFL as a rookie playing with a bad QB on the Raiders. He is going to be a yearly 1,000 yard receiver for several years to come. Comparing guys like Warren to him I feel sets up unrealistic fan expectations if we were to draft him. I think Warren will be a very good TE, but not on that level. Definitely think Warren and Fannin are on par with guys like Trey Mcbride and Dalton Kincaid as prospects.

This is a pretty good TE group in an underwhelming overall class. I think there's going to be some talent available on day 3 of the draft. I love the top guys but if a Gunnar Helm makes it to the 4th round pick, I'd be thrilled.

I am working on my WR spreadsheet this year and something jumps out when sorting the league reception leaders in 2024, a lot of them are TEs including Bowers who is 2nd in receptions right now.

Don’t care if Fannin is “undersized” he is an absolute weapon as a receiving threat that can line up at TE, as a WR and even make an impact out of the backfield as both a threat to run and catch the ball. Would love to see us draft him. His insane receiving production as a TE this year is pretty much unheard of. He is just 183 yards shy of the all time NCAA receiving yards record for a TE (which is 1,352 receiving yards), which he is on pace to shatter this season. Even more impressive is that Bowling Green is a low volume passing offense. Fannin has accounted for over 50% of their passing game this season and has dominated against ranked opponents as well (Penn State and Texas A&M).

This really paints a nice picture of what Fannin is doing this season at TE

I saw a mock draft and KC took him in the 1st round

Was reading about the 2025 draft as it pertains to the "skill positions" and it doesn't seem to be a good year for TEs. While there are some good WRs, it's not as deep as 2024. Looks like RB is forcing its way back in to the conversation.

I mentioned him on the draft prospect thread, but a guy to keep an eye on (because he will get looks) is former BYU/Baylor PF turned University of Utah TE Caleb Lohner. He is a legit 6’8, and has the physical traits to develop into a tight end in the mold of Jimmy Graham (more than Antonio Gates).

Watching him play, he has 4 catches for 54 yards…and 4 touchdowns. It’s funny watching them use him because they go to him in the end zone (obviously) and when he is down there he boxes out like a power forward.

Took BG to the natty and won, (NCAA 25) wondered who that amazing TE was….now I know. He’s a baller for sure.

This guy is a little undersized. and hasn't played against very many big name division schools over his college career. So that might make me think twice about drafting him. The NFL is a different animal from playing lower division opponents. Analysts have him graded in mid 1st round.

1- Harold Fannin Jr.- (TE) Bowling Green (6'4"/230#)
Fannin has sudden burst off the line with long speed to stack defenders vertically, consistently winning isolation routes against zone droppers. He is a YAC weapon who runs with a wiggle and burst, showing rare stop-start ability and lateral agility to make defenders miss in space. Fannin has vacuum hands with plus ball tracking skills, displaying consistent technique to pluck the ball out of the air away from his body in traffic. He has Swiss Army Knife potential for deployment with snaps from multiple alignments, showcasing scheme versatility.
Fannin has a size deficiency for the Y-position with concerning play strength, likely limiting inline blocking upside. He is underpowered when anchoring against power and gets walked back and loses leverage at the point of attack. Fannin's route tree is heavily manufactured through screens and schemed touches rather than NFL-style concepts. He struggles to combat press coverage with limited hand usage and functional strength at the line of scrimmage.
Fannin's receiving skills and athletic traits showcase an F-Tight End with mismatch potential in the passing game. His sudden acceleration, natural hands and rare YAC ability for the position will allow offensive coordinators to create favorable matchups through alignment variations. Fannin's lack of size and concerningly light frame point towards a move-piece role rather than traditional inline duties. Though his size limitations cap his ultimate ceiling, scheme fit will be crucial. Teams employing heavy 12 personnel looking for a traditional Y should look elsewhere.
