Top 5 problems with the Thankgiving day win over Dallas (1 Viewer)

I'll save you the trouble.

1 - We beat the Cowboys
2 - They won't be saying "The Cowboys are still not out of it" anymore
3 - We ended the Cowboys season.....officially
4 - That loser Roy Williams cost them the game.....point blank
5 - Jerry Jones got to witness another loss at home at the hands of Payton and Co.
ooh ooh I have one if the refs arent boyband fans this game isnt very close, they tried their best to work us over. I hate zebras that cheat

I have to say that it was very impressive to see the way we took away Dallas' home field advantage..... Anytime the home team has to use a silent count in thier own building, It says something about the WHO DAT NATION!

Brilliant

I guess things are going well when the fans complain about 'how' you win.

we had quite a few ugly wins last year and I don't remember people complaining too much about how many style points we collected.

It was poetic justice that Malcolm ripped the ball away from Roy Williams and turned the game around, since it was Malcolm who was held by Witten during the 'girls first touchdown.

3- Tracy Porters Tackling: I will start by saying that I have never
had any complaints about Tracy's tacking and he did make one nice
tackle on Dallas' Felix Jones for a loss, but his body of work for the
game was pretty poor. He missed countless tackles on that corner that
allowed meaningless 3 yard gains to become 6-7 yard gains that put the
cowboys in position to pick up big first downs in the second half. And
the play where Marion Barber shook the shoes off of porter was hard to
watch, lol. I can laugh now that we won.

I completely agree. I was rewatching the game last night and felt the same exact way. Greer on the other hand was making very solid tackles.

Great list, and allow me to add to it.

6) It was a road game on short rest against a hot team, one that while grossly overrated by the media before the season, was still more talented than its record showed.

7) The bounces were NOT going our way at all. I forget the exact stat, but I believe the Cowboys had 7 fumbles credited to them (including the botched snaps and McBriar's drop of the punt that he ended up drop kicking), and we only recovered the Jenkins one. The luck is NOT going your way when the opposition fumbles that much but you only get one (see also this year's Cardinals game).

8) The calls were NOT going our way at all, either. Jenkins was blatantly held in the flow of play on Austin's TD and it wasn't called. On the illegal hands to the face penalty that made it a 53 yard FG instead of a 58 yarder at the end of the half for the Cowboys, a Cowboys lineman also committed illegal hands to the face but was not called.

Considering all of the above, it's a good win.

And Porter's never been the best tackler. He's not a perfect player. He missed a tackle in the NFCCG in the final 2 min where he could have stopped the drive inside the Vikes 30 on 3rd down. But, on that drive and in his game-to-game play, he makes up for it with his coverage skills. Jenkins and Greer are better tacklers, but...Porter has great coverage instincts and, let's face it, Deion wasn't a great tackler, either (Porter is better than Deion in this regard, though).

5- Reggie Bush: Now I have Reggie listed here, but not only because of the
2 major mishaps he had early in the second half. Simply put, Reggie
was not ready to play. Some might think his injury is what caused
those mistakes, but I am not one of them. I think that coach Sean
Payton is just as much to blame for Reggie's short comings as Reggie
himself in this case. Here's why: Reggie had some obvious problems handling the football during his first game back from a broken fibula 2 months ago. Both carrying and catching were struggles for Bush. A fact that many miss in this is that the Thanksgiving day game was Reggie Bush's first live action, in practice or game, since week 2. Now with that being said, Reggie was healthy and able last week against the Seattle
Seahawks and was held out by Sean Payton himself. That game would have been a perfect opportunity to get Bush reacquainted with his ball
handling and feel for the game, which would have almost certainly
resulted in a better performance in yesterday's game. Reggie's rust
almost cost the Saints a very important game and that could have
easily been avoided with a measly 5-8 touches for Bush in last week's
game.

4- Second Half Lull?: After exploding out of the gate with a 17-0
first quarter, and cruising to a 20-6 halftime lead, the Saints' well
ran dry in the second half. The combination of sustained, time
consuming drives by the cowboys and untimely blunders by the Saints
ALMOST proved to be too much for the defending champs to overcome. I
proudly repeat ALMOST.

2- Butterfingers: Something that can easily get lost in the mirad of
amazing plays that the Saints made on thanksgiving day is the fact
that we would have won by at least 2 touchdowns if our pass catchers
would have made all of the catches that hit their hands. I know that
Henderson had a long one knocked out of his hands, and there's not
much you can do about that, but I know for a fact that Colston, Bush,
and the rookie Jimmy Graham all had passes fly right off of their
hands. Colston's drop cost a first down, Bush's cost us a game icing
touchdown, and Graham's resulted in an interception.

#1: Honestly, this isn't a real complaint because I'll take the win
anyway any day, but I really wanted us to beat the cowboys handily and
make them feel what we felt last year after they ended our undefeated
season. A bit selfish, I know. But I didn't feel like I could let the
arrogant Dallas fans have it the way I wanted to. Because they would
quickly remind me that we, the Saints, were lucky to escape with a
win. And they would be right.

Even with all of that, there were a lot of positives to take from the
30-27 thriller on Thursday. And in my next post I'll give you the top
5 positives from the Dallas game.

I'll be sure to forward this to the front office.

Here are my 5 bad things:

1. I've gained 4 pounds from eating like a fool on Thanksgiving from celebrating the Saints victory.

2. I had terrible gas from eating like a fool celebrating the Saints victory.

3. I was so excited that I didn't sleep well from celebrating the Saints victory.

4. I almost couldn't care any less about Sunday's other games from celebrating the Saints victory.

5. I am still celebrating from celebrating the Saints victory.

Did we have these types of threads last year after the Miami and Washington games?

Are you seriously asking this?

I'd bet at least one thread got moved behind the levee a couple days after the Super Bowl saying "If we played the Colts 10 times we'd lose the other 9" or some garbage like that.

I'll take the win over the Cowboys any way I can get it.

WE BEAT THE COWBOYS. There is no downside to that sentence.
