1 - Sean Payton - other coaches are making a strong finish but he continues to win the big games. Payton by a considerable margin.

2 - Andy Reid - Your franchise player goes down and you bring in Jeff Garcia to lead your team. Garcia is about 1000 years old. Guess what the Eagles are in the playoffs. Credit Reid.

3 - Eric Mangini - Has done a tremendous job with the Jets. He probably has less talent than the Saints and Eagles to work with and he is getting press every minute the TV is on from the NY media. If the Jets get in the playoffs he will probably finish second to Payton.

4 - Marty Schottenheimer - Give Marty credit. He got rid of Marty ball when he had a hot QB. Now that his wonderboy isn't so wonderful and is hitting the wall, Marty has gone back to what has worked best....Martyball.

5 - Brian Billick - Since taking over the reins this has been the most consistent team in the NFL along with San Diego. This might be Billick's finest coaching job...and firing his offensive and I mean "offensive" coordinator.

Theres only ONE !!!! and its the guy who went into the Meadowlands yesterday and SPANKED the GMEN !!!!!

careful I got blasted for suggesting Schottenheimer and billick merited discussion for COY.

I was promptly told that the "short list" is Payton, Mangini, and Nolan, and that Sean Payton is so far ahead of everyone else they should not even be discussed...

Just the fact that others are even being considered for COY shows that few people appreciate what Sean Payton inherited this past off season.

We didn't even have a home field until September 25th!!!

Gimme a break! If Coach Payton doesn't deserve the award, NO ONE does!

I agree with your others. But, Marty....no. Mangini while he deserves credit I wouldn't say he had less talent than us or the Eagles. They actually have some very good players in alot of their positions especially skill poistions. They have some okay players on D.

I would put Fisher over Reid simply because Reid's system fits Garcia perfectly and thus isn't really a huge, huge change.
