How do I download a torrent? I'm confused following the links on the SSF board...

You need a torrent download client like uTorrent, BitLord, BitTornado, etc. I use BitLord and have had good success with it. uTorrent also comes with high recommendations.

Once you install the download client, download a torrent file, save it to your desktop, and double-click it. That opens the download client. Now have a few beers while your file downloads.

Is there a torrent downloader that doesn't eat the heck out of resources? Even uTorrent slows everything down.

Utorrent is pretty stingy for me as far as ram/cpu goes, if it's using up a lot of bandwidth then you could lower the upload/download rates in Options-Prefs-Connection.

I use Azureus with not problems but I have 3 gigs of ram, I usually only run it when im away from the computer anyway because it slows down my net so much when im downloading
