Strengths: Tough and doesn't shy away from contact. Has a mean streak, shows adequate power at the point of attack and flashes the ability to shed blocks. Aggressive and flashes the ability to make plays at the line of scrimmage. Works from whistle to snap and makes some plays in pursuit. Squares up to the ball carrier, wraps up upon contact and is a reliable open field tackler that flashes the ability to deliver the big hit. Gets adequate depth and shows adequate awareness when asked to drop into zone coverage. Takes the shortest path to the quarterback when asked to blitz and flashes the ability to run through blockers in the backfield. Plays with emotion and is a leader in the field.

Weaknesses: Doesn't read keys well, has some problems locating the ball carrier and can get caught out position. Doesn't use hands to protect legs, frequently plays with a narrow base and gets knocked to the ground too much. Appears stiff when forced to change directions quickly and lacks the burst to stay with backs in man coverage. Takes too long to open hips and isn't fast enough to run with tight ends downfield. Lacks ideal ball skills and isn't a playmaker in coverage.

Overall: During Dizon's first three seasons (2004-'06) he played in 36 games at inside linebacker and recorded 280 total tackles, 16 tackles for loss, and eight sacks. He has started in 23 games over the past two seasons and has also seen action on special teams though collegiate career. Dizon is a tough run defender who has the motor and mentality to develop into a valuable special teams' contributor. However, his lack of ideal instincts is concerning and he doesn't have the burst to develop quality cover skills.

According to that, he's small, not stong and lacks instincts. But, I like his meaness and agressiveness. Something the Saints sorely lack on defense. Sounds like an UDFA special teams type guy though.

4th or 5th round and he comes in and looks to play weakside. He would be a nice pick up for the Saints.

Safety?

He should have won the Butkus this year. He's that good. He beat out Curtis Lofton for Big 12 Defensive player of the year. The combine always boosts a bunch of guys who have all the measurables but suck at football. Likewise, it always lowers guys who don't have all the measurables but make ALL the plays. This guy is absolutely in the latter category. Like I posted, he will be a total steal for at a team at LB.

I was joking about Safety.....just find it funny those who want to move Grant to DT or David to Safety.

Well, as my avatar shows, I prefer Lofton much more than Dizon, I don't care who won the awards. Just look how well those Heisman QB's project to the NFL. :ezbill:

I just think we need a big physical presence in the middle. Dizon seems like he is going to be a WLB.........which we need also but not early in the draft.

Sam Mills was not a tall LB and did pretty well in the NFL

hes too short. get this guy out of here. if i have to settle for a 3-5th round LB then we might as well keep Simmons and Simeneau
