The winds of change are blowing in South Florida, and the New Orleans Saints could benefit from it. The Miami Dolphins promoted longtime scouting director Chris Grier to general manager, and he hired former New England Patriots de facto defensive coordinator Brian Flores as his first head coach. Those changes — and instability at quarterback, among other positions — mean the Dolphins could be looking to stockpile assets as they rebuild their roster.

If that’s the case, the Saints should get on the phone and start calling after Dolphins wide receiver and returns specialist Jakeem Grant. Here’s why:

Grant joined the NFL as a sixth-round pick back in 2016, and immediately assumed duties fielding punts and kickoffs. He led the team in those categories as a rookie and improved year-by-year, peaking in 2018 with 1,036 yards gained on special teams returns – doing so in just 10 games, going down with an Achilles injury in November. He underwent surgery soon after.
