Triplett: Saints hiring Bradford Banta as Special Teams Coordinator, O'Dea will be his assistant, and CJ for receiver (Merged) (1 Viewer)

Glad to see the progress. All we really need now are a DL coach and assistant LB coach.

Brian Young is already our assistant LBs coach. I think this is one of the problems with our LBs that we have a former DT coaching players like Anthony when he should be working with Rankins/Onyemata. I'm hoping we put him with the DLine where he could possibly be our new DLine coach which is why there has been no news. Either way we IMO we need a LB assistant while Young moves the the DLine as the head guy or assistant.

I would love if we could somehow get Fujita to come be our assistant LBs coach. IMO he seems like he would make a great coach. He was a very technical and cerebral LB who had a nice diverse skill set. Could work with our LBs on their pass rushing skills and be a great addition to the film room helping game plan.

I like Fujita and I even would like Shanle as an assistant. Scott was not physically gifted, but he rarely made mistakes on the football field.

I still wonder if Tarver may come as an assistant. Jobs are filling now and by this week I presume he will learn if he will be retained in San Francisco or not.

I know it probably won't be a popular opinion, but Shanle would be great here in a coaching capacity. He trained Kikaha and recommended him to our coaching staff.

Brian Young is the assistant DL coach. We currently don't have an assistant LB coach or DL coach.

He's listed on our staff as a pass rush specialist and assistant LBs coach. Just going from what I have read. Can you give me a link where it says he's assistant DLine coach?

New Orleans Saints: Brian Young

Brian Young enters his first season as the club’s pass rush specialist after serving as the outside linebackers coach in 2015

Former Saints DL Brian Young enjoying coaching experience | NOLA.com

Young, 39, started as a coaching assistant in 2009, worked as an outside linebackers coach the past few years and is now in his first year as the Saints' pass rush specialist, primarily working with Bill Johnson to coach the defensive line.

Well if Young was recently moved to DLine assistant this year I think he's going to be the new DLine coach. I know Payton likes him a lot. Since there has been no news it likely we are looking for the assistant DLine and LBs coach to come which isn't as urgent.

Great article on Young tribune posted above. He's friends with Glenn who believed he would be a great coach. Has a strong relationship with Payton and Allen while being a part of our staff as an assistant since 09' when he retired as a Saint. After reading this I think it's a lock Bryan Young is our new DLine coach which I would be very happy with. Was a very good pass rusher with great technique. Perfect coach to help Rankins develop. Would like for us to sign someone for the edge rushers. Shanle as assistant LBs coach and Fujita as assistant DLine coach!? That would be amazing.

LOL. Some LSU fans think they're going to steal CJ from us :hihi:
