Trolling: Threads of speculation on 2006 Saints (The Good, Bad & Ugly) (1 Viewer)

I love reminiscing about that 06 team as much as anybody else here, but this seemed like a really odd choice of thread bump-age.

Secondly....while there are certain aspects of this offseason that resemble the 06 clean-up that Payton had to do, I think it's a little unfair to act as if the current Saints are as bad off as they appeared to be heading into 2006. That 05 team was 3-13 and consistently known for their inconsistency and ability to get it together after that initial promising season in 2000, and after that season they had just signed a QB coming off a major shoulder surgery. In other words, it's a little different story comparing the cleanup needed on that team to the cleanup required on the recent Saints who've been in the playoffs 4 out of the last 6 seasons (and realistically should have made the playoffs this past season, albeit with a mediocre record).

I'll see what I can fix:

SR Gang,

Like most of you, I can't wait until Sunday (woo hoo)!

Anyway, in the meantime, here are a few SR threads (before the start of the season) that speculated on what the Saints would (or may not) do in 2006.

Some were actually very good predictions. Others.... well, let's say they kinda missed their mark.

All of this makes me look back and say "Thank God for the way the 2006 Saints are (actually) playing."

That's funny how the links changed.. otherwise, looks like Nostradamus here.

A lot of people wanted Mike Martz, we'd probably be going on our 4th or 5th new head coach by now. Martz would have ended Brees career early.

Martz just never seemed to get it together when he left the Rams. He definitely deserves credit for what he did in STL between 99 and 01 (as OC and then coach)......but still, it's a different story when you don't have Warner, Faulk, Bruce, Holt, etc. Sorta reminded me of Shanahan trying to duplicate his late 90's Bronco success with the likes of Plummer, Cutler, McNabb and RGIII.
