Samuels is going to get paid now .... with today's tagging looks like the Saints have to build through the draft or go after some tier 2 CBs in free agency

Except that the Saints suck at drafting and they always have. I think that even the front office people know that they aren't good at drafting. This team would be well served to sign Samuel. He may not be worth it, but he's still the best corner on the market.

I think to expect Colts-like results through the draft is unrealistic. For whatever reason, the Saints front office scouting personnel just isn't capable of making great evaluations. It's been that way for years, and it's never been a strength of this team. I don't see how we should expect it to be all of a sudden. Best thing we could hope for is a solid first round pick, and a couple of steals in the later rounds ('06 draft was the best case scenario).

Either way, they're gonna have to sign either Briggs or Samuel in order to make a real impact via free agency.
