Well this is just for fun but not knowing who we will sign in free agency I will assume we sign a decent corner like keenan lewis or cox, and a decent olb like victor butler or connor barwin so this draft will be strictly BPA! I will have 2 different mocks and would like u to tell me which u would prefer and please spare me with the that guy wont drop that far stuff.

First Draft

1. Jarvis Jones - SOLB - With the browns signing Kruger it leaves 1 less team taking a pass rusher in the first, while jarvis could go to the jets before us I see them taking Ansah to fit Rex's hybrid scheme. Jarvis is a beast and the playmaker our defense needs badly, he can tackle, pass rush, cover, force fumbles, and can catch INT's like a WR.

3. Dallas Thomas - LT - A great left tackle who falls because of other team's needs and for player on the rise like terron armstead. This guy has early 2nd round talent. I wanted to take Jamie Collins here but couldn't pass on Dallas Thomas since he is by far the best player on the board AND could start day 1.

4. Brandon Williams - NT - Good nose tackle with brute force and nice pass rush moves for his size. Its a position we have zero depth in so i feel this is a must.

5. Joe Vellano - DE - Heart and soul of maryland's defense. Abuses interior lineman because of his natural speed, quickness and pass rush moves. Will be a good 3-4 DE who has pass rush potential that will keep our OLB's clean. We also have no depth at the position.

6. Ray Ray Armstrong - SS - Monster strong safety at 6"4 with good speed and was very good for Miami but was a kid and made some stupid mistakes

2nd Draft

1. Sheldon Richardson - DE - When I look at this guy I really see the next JJ Watt, very athletic, fast, strong, and violent, not sold on akiem hicks at end in a 1 gap system and richardson being such a pass rush threat will keep whoever we put at SOLB untouched.

3. Jamie Collins - SOLB - athletic phenom who looked like a man amongst boys in college, Saints have shown a lot of interest him and have no doubt he will be the pick here if he is there

Brandon Williams - NT - see previous ^

5. Melenik Watson - LT - beast athlete who runs like a tight end, falls because he is raw and has only been playing football for a couple years after moving here from England, dude has serious potential and we always luck out in the later rounds with offensive line help.
6. Ray Ray Armstrong - SS - See above ^

There's no way I trust Jones to set the edge on the strongside. Teams would just run at him all day - he'd be under constant attack.

I do see you thinking though, we don't have that player on our roster to play the strongside OLB position - hence the interest in Kruger. I'm guessing the Saints may have made a run at Spencer with that logic.

I think if we have a giant like akiem hicks there on the strong side also it would be possible.

Those drafts would be fine with me. I think I'd mix it up a little and go Jarvis, Collins, Williams, Watson, Armstrong.

Watson is a late 1st/2nd round player. If we can get him in the fifth I'd be stoked.

Just about every full round mock has him dropping into the 4th or 5th because of being a bit raw and they are worried about that in the nfl vs top tier pass rushers

Collins will go first round early second

Yup, I don't see Collins falling into the 3rd. I actually like the first mock, really like the versatility of Dallas Thomas. Also like Watson, nice research. Hoping we can land someone ala Victor Butler to man that SOLB spot and a CB so we can leave our options open at 15th. But I'd be ecstatic if Jones fell to us. Lots of holes to fill in my opinion. OT, WR, Depth at LB & D-Line, back up TE (see this being addressed in free agency at some point).

I was worried ab taking jones due to his "injury" but with so many first round bust that happen year in and year out why not take the chance. Tape doesn't lie, guy's a beast. Plus I've seen mocks with us taking Mingo and LSU defensive players don't transition well to the nfl. I hope Loomis can pull off a trade and get us a second rd pick. This years d players are really deep we can find a starter in the second
