The New Orleans Saints suffered an ugly defeat to the Atlanta Falcons in Week 3, but many of the key statistics in the 45-32 loss actually favored the Saints.

The most important stat, though, went the Falcons' way as they won the turnover battle, 2-0, in the divisional matchup at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

"If you look at the history of this game, the history of this series ... the turnover differential in the wins and losses here is unbelievable," Payton said.

Payton is right. The impact of the turnovers in each Saints-Falcons game is simply astonishing.

Since 2008, the team that wins the turnover battle is 13-2 when New Orleans and Atlanta meet. There were also two games in which the teams had the same number of turnovers, and the Saints won both games.
