Two Draft Prospects that I love, but don't see where they fit (2 Viewers)

If the Browns don't take a QB at #1 there's a chance that #11 becomes valuable to teams that want to jump Cleveland to get a QB before they do.

Do you do it, and how far back?

I would. I'd be willing to go back to #20, perhaps #25. There's still excellent names to be had in that range. But I wouldn't go lower than 25.

I would want Thomas so bad if there was any film of him dominating a DE. Everything I've seen, he's either at DT or lines up outside and then stunts inside. But man he is such a freak/beast. I'll just have the trust the front office and if they feel like they can use him then I'll be a happy man. He might be the best pass rusher in the draft. He just did it differently than all the other DEs.

Thomas is the biggest wildcard in the draft for me by a large margin. Even more so than Peppers. He's so good, but how do you use him?

BPA at 11 will most likely be Barnett, Hooker, Foster, or Thomas.

I poo-poo'ed Thomas as an option for us at #11 because he never really jumped out at me when I watched Stanford play, then I realized that I mostly watched Stanford games to see McCaffrey, and I sorta tuned out when their defense was on the field.

I made a point yesterday to go back and watch a number of videos on Thomas to get a better idea of what he has to offer... and I was very impressed! His motor, awareness, and closing speed really stood out to me. He also hits really hard and finishes plays. Hearing David Shaw talk about him (who I respect very much) also changed my opinion. Shaw loves the kid and thinks he's still just scratching the surface of his potential.

I did notice the same thing that you mentioned, where it appeared that Thomas lined up at DT or more of a 3-4 DE more often than not. Yet, he still generated a great deal of pressure in that role and it did not appear to be the most appropriate place for him to be playing. I would imaging that he could do some serious damage and wreak havoc coming off as a true 4-3 DE.

In short, I underestimated this prospect and made some comments without really having enough information, and I believe I was wrong. I'm ready to jump on the Thomas train.

If Jonathan Allen doesn't go in the top 5, he might end up in Carolina. Really hope that ain't the case. Him, Myles Garrett, and Leonard Fournette need to not be drafted in the NFC at all.

Unless it's by us.
I don't see Carolina passing on him. Though, they need to get some Oline help....[emoji57] Or not

The Saints haven't traded down since 2007, and that involved backing up in the 2nd round to acquire a 5th rounder I think.

When was the last time the Saints traded down in the 1st round to acquire more picks? I can't find any instance where they've done it.

I would be very happy with either Allen or Thomas at 11. I think both are really great prospects with Allen a bit ahead. I too thought about where they would fit and that, theoretically, we'd want a bendy, speed rusher opposite Cam Jordan. However, I think what we want is an upgrade at pass rusher opposite Cam and both would provide this. They don't fit the mould maybe, but both can get after the QB - and that's the key.

The added bonus is that they have some positional flexibility and could kick inside and rush from there or, heaven forbid, take over from Cam should he move on in the next few years.

I also think we have Kikaha and Gwachum as rush specialists and could potentially pick up a one trick pony edge rusher in rounds 3 or 4, or free agency if we're not convinced by either.

On top of being an insane athletic freak, and just cat quick on the line, combined with animal strength.....Solomon is such a unique person.

He's a self proclaimed nerd, dresses up in costume to see Star Wars movies, extremely soft spoken and the "kindest person ever" (as described by another Stanford LB).....

This guy would be someone we would never have to worry about off the field, unless there was a game on the opening day of the next Star Wars movie.

I would love a guy like this.

I'll admit I wasn't sold on Solomon's tape earlier in the season. He was always lined up at DT, getting doubled, and getting pushed around. I wasn't impressed.

But I was wrong. When that guy lines up at DE - he's a force to be reckoned with.

Whether he's a good fit for the Saints at WDE, I don't know. But I wouldn't be upset to see him drafted. Not by a long shot. That guy is a football player.

I dont know about drafting Allens or Als or anything of the sort....

So far in the draft we are
0 for 2 with Allens
0 for 2 with Alvins
0 for 1 with Alexs
0 for 1 with Alfreds
0 for 1 with Al Woods
0 for 1 with Allemans
