BALTIMORE, MARYLAND – DECEMBER 12: Running back Ty Montgomery #88
of the New York Jets stands on the field prior to the game against the Baltimore
Ravens at M&T Bank Stadium on December 12, 2019 in Baltimore, Maryland.

Ty Montgomery was meant to be a Swiss army knife on the offensive side of the ball. Hitting the scene as a wide receiver when the Green Bay Packers selected him in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft, he soon found himself converted to running back when the team realized they were out of healthy bodies in the backfield the following year, piling up 457 rushing yards at a terrific 5.9 yards per carry while still finding time to boost the passing game.

Now, after bouncing to the Ravens and Jets, Montgomery has a fresh start in New Orleans as part of the most explosive offense he’s ever played with. Unfortunately, they already have a Swiss army knife of their own in Taysom Hill, among mountains of other weapons — and that could very well be why he tweeted what he tweeted on Wednesday.
