The UFC returns with a much hyped and awaited match between Frank Mir and former Collegiate wrestler and former WWE star Brock Lesnar. What is my take on this fight, well I will let you know after I review the fights.
Keita Nakamura Vs. Rob Emerson
Don't really care about this fight. Makmura wins.
David Heath Vs. Tim Boetsch
Don't know too much about Boetsch except that his only loss was to the "Janitor" in the IFL. Heath is 2-2 in the Octagon coming off of two straight losses. i will pick him to get back on track in this fight.
Marvin Eastman Vs. Terry Martin
Interesting fight here. Martin is coming off a loss to Chris Leben while Eastman is 0-3 in the UFc with losses to Rampage, Travis Lutter and an axe-wielding Vitor Belfort..if you have no idea what I am talking about, do a Google Image Search with Marvin Eastman Cut as your title. I think this will be the end of the line in the UFC for Eastman. Martin is going to take the fight to him and get back on the winning track.
Chris Lytle Vs. Kyle Bradley
Once again, don't know much about Bradley, but I do like Lytle. I think he rebounds from his last fight with a win over Bradley.
Gleison Tibau Vs. Tyson Griffin
This will be a fun fight. Griffin has been in some great fights in the UFC and I expect this one to be no different. I like Tibau as well, he has bounced back from his first fight in the UFC( loss to Nick Diaz) with 3 wins in a row. I think his streak will end here with a loss to the very well rounded Griffin.
Jeremy Horn Vs. Nate Marquardt
This will be a very interesting fight. These are 2 of the most technical and experienced fighters around. I think this fight will go the distance with Marquardt getting the nod via Dec.
Tim Sylvia Vs. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira
This is actually the main event of the card, and normally it being a Pride vs UFC fight, the internet hype would be crazy, but it is on the same card as Mir vs Lesnar. This is for the Heavyweight title. I think this is a very interesting fight. Nog can submit Sylvia on the ground, I truly believe that. Can he get him there and keep him there is a different story. Sylvia is a good fighter, albeit sometimes a boring fighter. He has KO power and we know Nog has a good chin so I think this could be fun to watch.
I also think Nog has good boxing skills which should help him against the taller Sylvia. In the end, my gut is telling me to go with Nog, and that is what I will do. If he can get a hold of one of Sylvia's long limbs, then I think he can submit him. If not, I see a long Dec win for Nog.
Brock Lesnar vs Frank Mir
I think I am in the minority here, but I don't think this fight will last longer than 2 minutes. We all know that Lesnar is a strong, very good wrestler, but having one fight against a can is a big difference than having to fight a former UFC Champ. Especially one that has broken Tim Sylvia's arm. I think that Mir is going to come into this fight, focused and in great shape. I am sure that Lesnar will try for the takedown, I believe he will secure it, but when it hits the mat, he will be in big trouble.
I think that Mir will submit Lesnar in 2 minutes or under. It is a bold prediction which I hope holds true(it would make me look like I finally know what I am talking about)
Well, there it is. I am going out on a limb with my pick and I am eager to see if it holds up. Thoughts? Should I get my head checked? Let's hear your thoughts and predictions.
