Under The Table? (1 Viewer)

My gut tells me that it isn't common practice because some angry player would out a club somewhere along the line.

But my common sense tells me it has to happen with a small percentage.

Take Tom Brady. I have a hard time believing he took an actual pay cut.

He and the owner are super tight and I'm thinking there may have been something on the low low there. I believe Kraft trusts him implicantly.

Tom Brady took a pay cut? Officially the dumbest comment of the night!
That guy who "took a pay cut" was cut a $33M check the day he signed. Please do notice the $60M dead money in 2017! He signed a 5/$100 deal essencially. He took a pay cut and Brees is greedy, figure that one out and get back to me.

I was only going by what was reported on sports radio, even days after the contract was signed. Mike and Mike still speak of it like he took a pay cut. I just heard it a day or so ago.
So don't come in here and act like this is common knowledge to everyone.
If you go around checking and breaking down players contracts just to prove a point in a negative light, then you have some issues.

Dumbest comment? What is that all about?

It would be hard because of IRS issues too. The agent would expect his cut or out them so now a undocumented and unreported taxable chunk of cash in his hands? That being said I would not be surprised if more tangible "gifts" showed up from time to time like super cheap interest rates on loans or Ferraris that notes never get paid etc...

Do you think nfl clubs pay some of these players under the table? I believe there has to be some of this secretely going on. No examples just wanna hear some of yalls thoughts!

I just can't see it... The amount of money that it would take would leave a money trail....

I'm sure that on some occasions, they promise them jobs but how would you process hundreds of thousands or even millions without a trail that would get you busted?

If you said "what if its a lower amount" then what's the point... The difference between staying and going is less then $100k, then they could just do that on the books and not risk getting caught
