Underhill: “Rattler has the slight edge in starting QB battle heading into Minicamp” Jackson 6/11: “Rattler has slight edge going into Training Camp” (11 Viewers)

Taller than Rattler.

Several of his combine numbers are better than Rattler's.

That's fairly accurate.

That's a subjective and premature opinion. It may bear out to be true, but it's too early for anyone to know.

Haener has looked good in several moments, just like he's looked bad in several moments. The same is true of Rattler and will probably be true for Shough as well.

Haener has made a few big plays for the Saints and has lead some successful drives. He's also made some bad mistakes. The same is true for Rattler and will probably be true for Shough.

It's not hype or hate to point out any players strengths or weaknesses. Moore was giving equal reps with the first team to Haener until he got the injury. Moore has said it's an open competition between Shough, Haener, and Rattler. Moore has spoken as positively about Haener as he has Shough and Rattler. Haener may not getting the starting spot, but Moore is giving him an equal chance.
This kind of fact-based posting will not be loved by many, but it is appreciated by a few.

At the end of the day this is true. And for the team sake and future you trade them away. But based on age and where they stand in their contract, Rattler would be traded for draft stock or a player because he isn't Moore's guy and he is on the 2nd year of his rookie deal and a 2nd round pick has to live up to his draft stock vs a 5th rounder.

Moore would send Rattler to a team that will start him too and pay him so no love will be loss, if this scenario plays out well from what we seen.

Make no mistake when I say this..Shough will eventually be a capable QB2 that can be a great back up for Rattler is an injury happens. But this is based on 7 on 7 and 1 on 1....he isn't battle tested yet to further receive any more praise.
No team would trade a draft pick for Rattler. He likely would not be picked up by any other team, if he was available for free.

Lies....if Both Shough and Rattler look amazing in the preseason there will be a QB need team that will hop on the Rattler trade.

Y'all (not all) but y'all hate this man for whatever reason and it's horrific as a fan base in general to display these sentiments-its disgusting.

I “hate” it when posters on here look for hatred and constantly try and point crap out. Just enjoy the ride. Jeez.

Whoever wins the QB job, best of luck to them. C’mon football….

Do you see the increase to $21M in 2020? That's where the extension kicked in. The 2019 season was still his Rookie contract. It's not that hard to understand.

Yes, he still had a year left on his deal when he got his extension but there's new money on the deal even in 2019. I promise you that 2nd rounders don't have $15 mil cash on the last year of their deals - the Saints just backloaded the contract like they always did in the Brees era with our cap state. The most important part of these deals to players is the guaranteed money, and that was guaranteed the second he signed that extension, regardless of whether he technically had a year left on his rookie deal or not.

So, the narrative of him "quitting" or mailing it in once he got paid is absolutely false.

The sequence of even goes:
  • He gets paid before the 2019 season.
  • Breaks records and wins OPOY in 2019.
  • Unfortunate injury in week 1 of 2020, that he damaged even further by trying to rush back for Drew's last season.
  • The saga of surgery or no surgery that off-season - the team wanted him to get surgery, he wanted to try letting it heal on it's own as there were apparent risks with the procedure. Gets up getting the surgery anyway around OTA's, and early in the season we find out that the surgery didn't take and he has to do it all over again.
  • Never the same player after that.
People can say what they want about his demeanor and his behavior on social media, but that go into a different bucket. When talking about play on the football field and production, the guy was absolutely on pace for a HoF career if not for that injury in 2020. Which sad because he should have never even been on the field to have his ankle get rolled up on, when we actually could have been taking kneeldowns as the game was won. And not only did that ruin his career, but it drastically hurt our chances to win a championship in 2020. With the state of Drew's arm we NEEDED a healthy Mike in the playoffs to carve up short and intermediate. I don't think we lose at home in the playoffs if Sean did the right thing and just kneeled instead of risking injury to our star players in week 1.

If you think a team would trade a draft pick for Rattler you’re delusional. I hope the man does well, but I am also realistic. The more likely scenario is that we trade for a qb. That’s not hating on any of our current qbs.

Blows my mind how many people don’t factor in injuries, supporting cast, and coaching/system into their evals.

Whole team was mired in incompetency and guys playing out of place last year. And no, I know this is hard to believe, but Kubiak wasn’t any kind of savior either.

IMO, there was no way you could fairly evaluate Rattler based on last year's circumstances.....this QB battle in TC will be the most interesting thing for the preseason Saints in a long time.....excited to see who comes out as QB1.....

If that's what "it" is, Haener possesses those same attributes. If you go back to when Haener was drafted, you heard the same comments, 'He has "it"'. Then I guess Rattler took "it" from Haener? But I think "it" is a bunch of hooie.
I disagree. Rattler carries himself like an alpha and has the arm to back it up. Haener doesn't have either of those attributes.

I don’t hate Rattler. He is just not a starting NFL QB. If we had any actual confidence in him, we wouldn’t have taken Shough in the 2nd. We took Shough to be the starter. If he isn’t the starter week 1, we will be picking a QB in the top 5 next season.

You can hate that if you want, just come back here next April if Rattler starts week 1 this season.

I know the history and sequence of events. I am just pointing out when he actually entered the extension. He balled on after he signed the extension, that is a fact, he also didn't enter the extension until 2020 which is also a fact. Thanks for the sequence for those who don't understand.
