Underhill mumbles "they tried to trade for him before" in reference to Davante Adams (1 Viewer)

Nick followed up on this in an article today. Says that after we signed Carr, we did the math and decided we could afford Adams, we called and inquired, but was told he wasn’t available, and we moved on.
Might have saved PC’s job with that move.

Khai Harley probably isn't getting much sleep tonight while he crunches numbers.

A big no from me, need whatever money we have to sign important players on our squad right now
That and we need draft capital to retool our offensive line.

If we trade for him so be it, but in terms of our soft rebuild is this a necessary move?

The question was posed, If the Saints continue to look like a threat do you make a trade for a receiver, and then Adams name was dropped. I'd very much consider it, his pay would have to come down though. FWIW everyone on the panel agreed they'd make the phone call to see if anything changed w/ his availability.

Can he play center?

I'm not going to invest my emotions into "Adams watch". We have failed in every attempt to get a big time FA, so I'm just going to call him to the Jets next week and keep it moving.
Not based on my knowledge. He’s a better fit for reasons I won’t disclose but I believe he’ll connect w/ Loomis and Allen during conversations more than Selah and the Jets GM.

For that reason I’m confident we reel him in

The Packers have an embarassment of riches at WR. Christian Watson seems to have fallen to the bottom of the pack with Jayden Reed, Dontayvion Wicks and Romeo Doubs all in favorable positions with the team. Watson seems like a more reasonable young guy to pursue.

Perhaps, yet I’d contend that a veteran presence would be beneficial in the WR room

Average age of the group is 24.83

I’m ready to be hurt again. 😌

While we do need to keep as much valuable draft capital as we can to refortify the OL next season, the offense right now is sorely missing another threat with Taysom and Kamara being banged up.

11.0 ppg over the last 6 quarters without Taysom and I’d shudder to see what that number drops to if we’re missing both he AND Kamara.

Adams is still that guy and will help free everyone up.

I think approaching any kind of deal in a manner thats more about the current than the future, is a mistake. I read a comment where someone said the window is only open so often. I don't think anyone expected this to be a window open year. The first two games were phenomenal and expectations seemed to blow up. While I was caught up in the optimism, I never once believed we were headed toward a championship season. If we were a piece or two away, I'd say go for it, but this team still has obvious starter quality and depth issues. We are just starting the healing process from the constant "all in" approach that has hampered us in recent seasons. Keep getting well and add good young talent if possible. I'm not against adding veterans for the sake of trying to win more now, but I am against mortgaging the future (cap money, draft picks, etc.) to do so.

Christian Watson has a high ankle sprain and could be headed to IR. He looks injury prone as he’s missing games every year since entering the league in ‘22. He missed half of last season due to hamstring. Injuries aside, Reed, Doubs and Wicks have lapped Watson for 2 consecutive seasons now. He had a decent rookie year but he may be a speedier AT Perry, a big young WR (also injured) who’s thought to have potential but can’t carve a consistent role.

Seems like he dodged a bad injury.

If not him, someone like him. The point I was tyring to make was that if we were going to seek upgrades through trades, we should pick better options that crazy expensive players in the twilight of their career.
