Underhill thinks Carr will be Saints starter [mod edit: Moore-Carr meeting went well; Saints plan is to keep Carr in 2025 & figure out contract] (127 Viewers)

Until Week 1 gets here, I’m going to remain optimistic that everything said right now is keeping real plans tight to the vest.

Derek Carr as the starting QB makes ZERO sense for New Orleans in 2025.
With him being on the team…it makes perfect sense. Like it or not, he gives the Saints the best chance to win. They aren’t tanking or resetting this year.

Sounds like Loomis is doing what he said he would do - proceeding with a soft reset of the cap. We’ll see how aggressive he’ll be in free agency to be competitive. My guess is probably comparable to the last couple of seasons. Maybe one semi-big name (like Chase Young) and a few bargain depth signings.

I’m good with this approach. Never was a fan of tanking even late in a bad season. Definitely won’t be doing so before the season starts.

With Kellen, I expect things to be different. I thought the Carr move with Sneaky Pete and DA was a waste of time and money and felt that he wasn't going to move the needle in that offense, but Kellen is one of the coaches that can see the strengths and adapt around a player. I don't mind Carr as the bridge to the future with Moore as long as we find a way to get the money right.

But when I say it.......LOL
With Pete you are right . But with Kubiak we say glimpses of what DC and the O could be. Then all hell broke loose with injuries

If Carr doesn't agree to a pay cut, how would that work? Just curious.
It gets treated like a lump sum signing bonus. It's just a different avenue to a restructure.

He has no reason to turn it down unless he wants new new money.

Right, so my #2 "Restructure" is basically the same thing. Same money, restructured somehow. There are people here who think he's taking a paycut. He has NO reason to do that. He knows he won't be here much longer, it's not like he's the franchise guy and he's trying to help build a long term roster around him.

Did you also look at the defenses that he played with all those years?
But don't you know that the QB IS responsible for how the D plays also how the kicker kicks , the punter punts. And don't forget every aspect of STs.

Joe Namath
Dan Fouts
Warren Moon
Fran Tarkenton
Sonny Jurgenson
Troy Aikman
Kurt Warner
Bart Starr
ALL of those HOF QBs have LOSING RECORDS. They must have all sucked

It's kind of weird that he doesn't request a trade or want to make a deal to be cut.... But that was the same thing in Las Vegas. I guess it's just about the money for him and not the glory.

Especially, he would have some interesting FA options.

Do you not follow college or live under a rock? Arch Manning, and he looks amazing. Then, you have Garrett Nussmeier with a ton of hype around him now.

Then, the QB class falls off a mountain.
Do you not know how the Mannings work??? EVERY one of them spent all of their eligibility playing in college. So look for him to be there at least till 27 And if Arch's last name was not Manning no one would be talking about him. He's only played in mop-up and against weak teams.
Nuss,?? He's had yrs in the LSU system and looked worse than Burrow or Daniels did in their 1st yr @ LSU
SMH you are not living under a rock , you're under a landslide

I remember when people said Daniel and Burrow wasn't good after their 1st year. That didn't age well.
