Underhill thinks Carr will be Saints starter [mod edit: Moore-Carr meeting went well; Saints plan is to keep Carr in 2025 & figure out contract] (86 Viewers)

It's kind of weird that he doesn't request a trade or want to make a deal to be cut.... But that was the same thing in Las Vegas. I guess it's just about the money for him and not the glory.

Especially, he would have some interesting FA options.
Or Carr likes the Saints and Moore, and likes the Saints chances to win with the new coaching staff.

C'mon man , you know ML didn't walk in to the war room on draft day and say " I think we'll trade up to get Davenport " Or " let me call Roseman and trade to get an extra 1st this yr and give up too much to get it"
That was SP and DA telling him what they wanted and for him to make it happen

I didn't say that he did. But, if Payton says he wants to trade up for Davenport, Loomis should have said no and should have done the same thing in DAs first year with the trade up, and when DA wanted Watson and Carr. Yes, a good GM gives a coach the players he wants as often as possible, but he should also stop a coach when he wants to do something dumb.

I truly wonder what all of you will say if DC starts this yr and with 3 former NFL QBs on the staff they get the best out of him. With the players bought in and good coaching. And we sign a few good FAs to upgrade the DL, S and some depth @ OL. Then we have a good draft and get a big body contested pass catcher, an edge guy and another starter. We have just a normal health yr. And we go 10-7 with luck 11-6 and win the NFCS and a playoff game

What will you all be saying then???
I know I can see it now, " But But But, He went to Chipolte" Or "He must be wearing eyeliner"

I just don't see it. Too many holes. Not enough elite players. Doubling down on the same injury prone player that only gonna get older and more fragile.

I don't know what to do with Olave(with him being a concussion away from retirement) or the defensive line.

Oline is really close to having a locked in core if you can get a good, young LG.

Very tough spot.

They will be complaining because “Another year was wasted” from their tear down and rebuild dream that apparently is guaranteed to conclude with some fantasy land 15-2 juggernaut/dynasty level roster that’s sustained for the next decade.

If you don’t have a 15-2 juggernaut that’s guaranteed to be a HFA contender every year, then what’s the point of even playing, amirite? 😂

Well, luckily for Carr, if he stays, he has yet another excuse for being below average. "It's a new system", "He has a new coach" "Team is rebuilding around him" "blah blah blah". In the mean time, he gets his $$$ for 5-7 wins.

But hey, the 12th year! This may be the year he will finally put it all together.
If we can get him some protection and another mouth to feed.

Carr has already said he's not taking a pay cut.

That really leaves 2 options.

1. Cut him (post June 1 or not)

2. Restructure

Thats what I think. You can package and verbalize a restructure any way you'd like, but if Carr says he's not taking a pay cut, it will have to be some form of kick the can. I'm sure Mickey's brand of logic will try to make it sound different, but it is what it is.
Carr said he would not take a pay cut the first week in January. MUCH has happened since then. Kellen Moore was considered a darkhorse candidate at that point. So who truly knows what feelings are now, except for Carr and Moore? Maybe he is willing to take a pay cut under Moore. Maybe he’s not but Moore has another plan he thinks might work. I’m willing to be patient and positive about all of it. Let it play out on their terms. Because no matter how much any SRer believes they know, it’s all gonna boil down to ML, KM and DC. They’re not going to pay any attention to beliefs anyone on here has. I see all this as good news. Compromise is good, especially when it’s for the best of the team and everyone who’s on it.

I remember when people said Daniel and Burrow wasn't good after their 1st year. That didn't age well.
NO ONE said they were not good . Almost everyone said there was potential for both of them , AND that was their 1st yr @ LSU in that system Nus has been there 3yrs

What are talking about... Burrow had a 57% comp percentage with 16 TDs.... They was wanting Burrow to get benched.

They wanted to bench Jayden his 1st year for Nuss after losing to A&M.

Talk about some revisionist history. Nuss broke all the 1st year passing records for an LSU QB and he'll probably break all career passing records too. Throw for 4000 yards and 29 TDs. Lead the SEC and his getting insane draft hype by scouts. I would argue he's a bit overrated as a prospect, but he's not a finished product till we see him in his final season.

I can somewhat agree with the DA thing but with SP you have a SB winning HC that had just come off a 11-5 yr and 1 game away from the NFCCG and your HC says " I need this guy to get back to the SB" you do it
In hindsight Davenport's issue was health not so much talent and that you can't predict

ML's biggest mistake is not going to be signing DC or the Philly trade it's hiring DA. And there were a lot of people on board with it and could see the reasoning.

AGAIN it's his THIRD yr in the system. BOTH Burrow and Daniels started their 1st yr . Nuss lost more than 1 game all by himself. A big part of why Daniels won the Heisman were his legs and a big reason why he's had success in the NFL

I'm one that wanted to move on from Carr, not because he's bad, but because I think we need to start looking for our franchise QB now and I don't want to wait a year. But it wasn't because I think Carr is bad. He's not, he's just mediocre. But, if he is staying, I hope Moore can somehow unlock Carr and make him the best he can be.

Or, hopefully Rattler takes a giant leap this offseason and beats Carr out in training camp. That would solve so many problems for this team. I don't think it's likely to happen, but it would be amazing if it did.
2027 and beyond is when real franchise QBs will be available. In the last two years or so there have been some ideal top recruits that are more likely to be much better in the NFL.
