many individuals on this forum as well as other places are quick to throw out the BUST tag when referring to players who have been drafted, yet have, as of yet, shown little or no production on the field. such references bestowed upon Robert Meachem, in particular, are blatantly unfair and inept. its is completely premature to label Meacham a bust after his FIRST YEAR...anyone who has followed football, especially within the last decade, will know that most rookie wide receivers tend to take 2 TO 3 YEARS to develop into a productive football player with his respective team. If it's 2010 and Meacham still hasn't produced or has been habitually injured, then I have no problems with placing the BUST label on him. Until then, give the guy a chance to a least get on the field and show what he can do. I think we've all been spoiled by Colston's instant production...

There are just as many people who line up and make excuses for players that don't produce by saying said position takes 2-3 years to produce. Colston, Fitzgerald and Bolden didn't take 2-3 years to produce. Some do and some don't. It's nothing new and will always be that way.

Last I checked, Colston, Fitzgerald, and Bolden didn't have knee surgery, missing most of the offseason and still having a limp halfway through the regular season.

He was healthy enough to stay on the active roster all year, after playing in preseason, which was after his surgery. Again, more excuses.

You definantly need to change the title of this thread. I was expecting a pic with a girl with large knockers and a low cut shirt and a women posting that we men are sexist pigs.

Someone should at least post a good pic.....right?

Fitzgerald had a good, but not great first year, as he had to adjust. Anyone who labels a player a bust after 1 year is busted in the head.

I think the word/term "bust" is thrown around to easily, when exactly can a player be recognized as a bust? when he's outa the league after 3-5yrs after being so highly touted? or if he has a 12yr career but never lived up to his hype?....or is it when fans are upset that a player isnt playing, so he must be a "bust"? who determine's this? and exactly when should this be determined? after 2yrs....3, 4 or 5?

Umm, he was never, not once, on the active roster. He was on the 53 man roster because he has to be, otherwise another team would pick him up off the practice squad.

everytime I post pics of women with a large bust I get points violation against me

:(

A player can't be seriously judged as a bust until he is out of the league. In the case of Meach and Reggie, we can say (on not) that they appear to be a bust, but that's all. Both could wind up being All Pro for all we know.

The guy was healthy enough to be on the active roster, healthy enough to practice with the team, and healthy enough to go through pre-game warm-ups--yet never even dressed for a game. That includes games where we were shorthanded at wide receiver.

It's more than just saying the guy didn't produce last year.

He was never on the active roster. I've already covered that. There are two rosters. The 53 man roster, and the 45 man active roster. He was on the 53 because you can not put a 1st round draft pick on the PS. Someone will pick him up. He was reported to still be limping halfway through the season. He missed most of TC and only played limitedly in preseason. Its hard for a WR to win a starting job fullspeed, much less missing most of TC, limping halfway through the season, and not having a grasp for the offense that you can only get with 1st string reps during practice.

Payton said he is 100% and doing great. You can bet he'll be a big part of the offense this coming season.
