Ages ago we had a discussion about this

https://saintsreport.com/threads/would-you-put-your-foot-down-over-this.169780/

In the years since the thread was started there has been a lot of debate about what is "normal" or "acceptable" and how people acting or looking outside those norms are treated

I guess my attitude about it now is, "whatever floats your boat"

Just curious though, Is it men who decided the gender norm that women should shave their armpits and legs, or women?

and when did it start? Were women in the 1800s shaving their legs?

Is this an universal norm or an American one?

Has anyone noticed this Unicorn Pit trend?

I can't say I've noticed much women body hair at all, but I've never seen rainbow hair

It's 2019. We need to stop shaming women who refuse to succumb to stereotypical gender norms-women have every right to embrace their body hair.

Gloriously, the first month of the new year has been dubbed "Januhairy," an ongoing celebration on social media encouraging women to grow out and show off their body hair.

Now, women are dynamic, radiant, vibrant beings-so, naturally, Januhairy got really colorful.

On Instagram, some women are dying their armpit hair in rainbow shades and calling them #UnicornPits. Girls just wanna have fun.

The dyed armpit hair is not new. It's been around for a bit.

I'd have to look it up, but I seem to remember the shaving thing started as something to do with health, and those wacky turn of last century health fads.

As I understand it ,it's a relatively new phenomenon, like the 40s or 50s. Basically when swimsuits became more revealing than burlap sacks. And it was only here for a long time. I've....read.... that 70s porn from Germany and whatnot was still pretty hairy.

Edit: And in a related matter, I'm so glad I don't have to date these days. Good lord what a minefield of weird.

I am really grateful to women who dye their pit hair, or dye their hair pink, green etc.

In nature, you see poisoness frogs, etc warn off other species by their bright colors. This is pretty much the same thing

Not my business. You have the right to grow your hair as you choose. I have the right to find that attractive or unattractive at my choosing.

Whatever floats your boat is appropriate here.

I don’t get out much apparently, because I’ve never seen this.

I will go home and dye my pit hair with Kool-Aid (tm) and see what my wife thinks.

This actually seems like the most sensible response possible. Way to ruin what could have been a 15-page ****-measuring contest amongst us. :hihi:

The internet has this amazing ability to make everything seem like a massive movement sweeping the world when in reality it's, well, not.
