I have to face it, Bleu Dad is not getting any younger and has nearly everything that he ever wanted, so what could I get him for Father's Day?

Don't say hookers and blow. Or tacoes.

In the past several years I have sent flowers, edible arrangements, a hand written letter, cookies, and some other really thoughtful things. This year nothing is rocketing to mind. I thought about making a donation to Michael J. Fox's foundation in Bleu Dad's name (Bleu Dad has Parkinson's). I'll certainly be spending the day with him and we'll have a remembrance of sorts because Bleu Mom passed away on Father's Day many years ago.

Ideas?

is he able to get around and do stuff? Perhaps some sort of experience together instead of an object?

Actually though... I find if you get someone something they like already and they can use that's a pretty good gift. Sometimes it might be a computer game, or a new set of grill tools, or Band of Brothers on DVD, or a new belt sander, whatever -- something they already like and would want.

How about a night out with Bleu Raeder, just the two of you, doing anything like fishing, or movie, or seeing a play, or baseball game, etc?

excellent idea right here. I have tried to make this the tradition for Birthday gifts in my family. It is something you will remember for a long time if not forever, unlike material objects.

having said that, Hookers, blow and Tacoes sounds like a party to remember but you better eat the Tacoes first (the ones with meat in shells dirty mind :nono:)

BUG-A-SALT: The Original Salt Gun

I got my dad one this year and he loves it. I also know that my dad is still a kid at the age of 60. We sat outside smoking cigars and he had it with him the entire time shooting at stuff.

I bought a dozen Bug-A-Salts last Christmas and gave family and friends a unique stocking stuffer. My redneck fly slaughtering family loves them and shoots all manner of insects with them. You can load them up with Kosher salt and take out larger wasps, dragonflies, and beetles.

If your father grills out, I recommend Grill Grates. They sponsor my cooking team and their product is by far the best upgrade I have ever done for my grill. There is a reason that 4 of the top 5 at world championships use them; I missed the stage by 0.1 points this year.

humidor, hammock, golf gift certificate to his favorite course, clothes (not a tie), an old edition of his favorite book (or, to be sentimental, if there was a favorite book he read you as kid), a gadget, golf lessons, fly fishing lessons, etc.

Out of ideas now

I have to say there are some good ideas there.

I'm just a few years older than you Bleu and I lost my dad 26 years ago so I tend to side with those who suggest giving him your time and doing something together. It's really a present for both of you.
