Tonight the U.S. Men's National Soccer Team defated Cuba in a World Cup qualifier 6-1 at RFK Stadium. While the score is not important, as we were huge favorites, the off the field story is much more interesting. Two Cuban players came up missing from the team hotel, they are believed to have defected. After hearing this story I got to thinking how difficult life must be for the Cuban nationals. During the match a Cuban player was "sent off". Although down 4-1 at the time he was still visually upset. Not because he couldn't finish the game for Cuba, but because he couldn't finish the game for his team. The Cubans showed great sportsmaship throughout...I guess the point is,it's not their fault they live in Cuba, the didn't choose to be Communist, and even though they live under the rule of an evil dictator they still made the best of their trip to the United States and obviously enjoyed being here.
