USM alumni here, attended and graduated during the Bower years. I remember hoping one day day they would “can” Bower, than it FINALLY happened. Bower was replaced with Fedora, which was a great hire, though they essentially swapped out those great defenses for a great offense, but it looked great. It’s been 20 years since Bower has been gone and I have to admit I miss him now. Looking back, he could find some hidden gems in the New Orleans area and South Alabama and made them into contenders who could just never get over the hump but would pull some great upsets.
